The school when it was first built was an excellent school as well as the first five to six years of the school’s existence. Since the principal changed three school years ago the school has never been the same. With this years newest addition of a new principal, in my opinion it is gotten worse.

I have a son that played in band and he started two years ago. In the 2 years he played his trumpet very very very well. In the morning he would get to school early and practice. This year, however with a new band teacher he was picked on and criticized and target it because he was one of the better kids in this band. After he was in band for one week my son asked me to take him out of band. At this point I tried to approach this teacher and asked her to please make an effort and call me. After 3 weeks and no phone call I called back into the school and spoke to my son’s guidance counselor. She did some work and called me back in a day and told me that it is not required that we have a parent-teacher conference. And at this parent-teacher conference it was predetermined by the band teacher and the assistant principal that my son would no longer be allowed to participate in band. In other words it was predetermined and I did not get an opportunity to be able to debate it nor did I get any phone calls from his teacher saying that he was a disciplined or behavioral problem. In the eight years that my son has been going to the school he is never been a behavioral or disciplinary problem he’s a good kid. He does his work for the most part he gets eighties and nineties on in his grades and I am very proud of him. After this meeting I want to the principal and the school district and three weeks later they made the decision that he would be allowed back in. They wanted my son to sign a behavioral contract at which time I inform them that I expected that band teacher to have to sign a behavioral contract. The principal and assistant principal said that it wasn’t necessary and the decision was made by my son that due to the fact that he was afraid of repercussions from this teacher not to pursue band this year.

We may have a great talent in this young man my son and he will lose a Year’s worth of practice and performances because of a vindictive band teacher and because of an assistant principal who really acts like they don’t care about his children.

If I had the finance I would hire an attorney for a civil suit but I can not afford it.

PS – I think that the asst principal and this band teacher is related.

BTW – when I had the meeting withwhen I had the meeting with the principal she stated that she had a hard time finding certified band teachers. Well I happen to have found five of them inside of two days worth of looking based out of in Venice based out of Pasco County who are doing other things other than teaching. (She lied or did not look hard enough)

I am writing this using my phone so please forgive the typos.

This school is absolutely disgusting. The teachers point out mistakes and weaknesses. I have been here sinse 5th grade and im in 7th now.

Rn im getting bullied. Ive gone to my teachers. They tell all of their other classes about me name and everything. So now im being picked on for refusing to sit with the kids who bully me.

The guidence counsler is rarely there for you or your child. The staff are rude. Some are nice but the majority are very disrespectful. I have a learning disability and depression. I freak out alot when i feel unsafe, in harms way or flat out uncomfortable.

So i go to the bathroom to try and calm down. The teachers have followed me into the bathroom and accused me of skipping. Recently i have a panic attack in class and i went yo the bathroom. I was hiding in one of the stalls crying. Amanda bigwood followed me inside and told me i needed to get back to class.

Im bullied everyday. Im being called names, hit, kicked, ive been punched, tripped, i was pushed down stairs a few times, and ive had other kids throw food at me. Girls will peek over the stalls if your in the bathroom or try to force you to keep the door open.

When i had gym i had the drape that blocks the class from seeing you change pulled open and laughed at and people have tried to force me not to shut the stall doors when i tried to go in a stall to change. The teacher told me it was my fault. So i got out of that class.

If you love you kid/s find a better school. This place will lower their self-esteem and destroy their emotional stability.

Good luck trying to get ahold of Guidance if your child’s getting bullied! She never calls. When I called her, she literally stopped me midsentence and said “I’m sorry but I thought it was someone else calling, I have something to do and I’ll call you back”. Are you serious?? I finally get ahold of you and what I called you for isn’t important enough to stay on the phone. You thought I was someone else?? And what, you’d stay on the phone and help them but you couldn’t help me?? She was going to call me back tomorrow until I said look my child is getting bullied and I need help! This isn’t the first time either! This school doesn’t care about its students! Especially not the front office or guidance!
My son was getting made fun of; told he was little and weak and a baby. His teacher literally told him “well you are little and you do act like a baby”. Really nice! Go ahead and bully the child when he comes to you for your help! Now, he’s getting made fun again and he told me he doesn’t want to tell his teacher because she didn’t help last time. Who are these kids going to turn to when they’re at school? Zero tolerance for bullying my butt!!
