I’m a former student at the Farnley academy this school should give you the best experience in school and get you ready for GCSE the send team is outstanding you will get loads of help from the teachers and it was strange when teachers were coming outside off school to check on students if there are going to go in school .

Plus if there were fights breaking out on the wreck what the teachers would do is call out other teacher on call using a radio phone type

Thing and then suspend the students if there we’re fighting or expelled them or put in isolation I got put in isolation for wearing cargo trouser because my school trousers were split in the middle so I refused to we’re school trouser from school decided to we’re my cargo trouser

This school is an absolute joke and really petty doesn’t even deserve one star. None of the teachers communicate with each other so never aware of what’s going on with your child And when you want a meeting with the headteacher you’re not allowed he hides away. It’s a full power trip with them all (for example) my son got to the gate well the teachers was stood there. They turned him away and told him he’s late so to go in student services and received a late comment. ITS AN ABSOLUTE JOKE OF A SCHOOL!!
If I could leave no stars I would , this is just the cusp of the ice berg , worst school my son ever attended ZERO help towards mental health ZERO help n understanding why we had to move out of farnley area , not to mention how horrible the teachers are (POWER TRIP) save your kids mental health from this school it is awful oh n to top it off majority of them absolutely lie through their teeth!! N be careful when u have meetings because the conversations do not stay in that room ! Meaning they will discuss and disclose your child to others it’s unprofessional the only teacher now helping my son with exams is Mrs loveday, me and my son like her
Just wanted to express my thoughts with a recent experience with this school. I visited Cannon Hall Farm on 28 March and had the displeasure of encountering around 60 pupils and staff who had also decided to visit the farm at the same time.

I was in the indoor play area with my young son and mother when around 60 children from this establishment descended into the soft play area like a plague of locusts; they were screaming, shouting, running up the slides and generally causing a complete nuisance of themselves. The young children who were already in there got up and left in fear. I spoke to a staff member from the soft play to ask why a bunch of kids who looked to be around 12-13 years of age were playing in a kids play area designed for much younger children. Subsequently the group were asked to leave this part of the farm. I may add when all this was occurring around 8 members of staff wearing high vis jackets emblazoned with ‘The Farley Academy’ were ordering their drinks and food without any attempt to monitor or control the large group of school children.

This continued throughout our visit and ultimately the group were left unsupervised to wander around outside the farm and hang around the outdoor play areas where we constantly heard swearing and had to put up with teenagers messing around lobbing full bottles of water at each other narrowly missing my sons head. The age limit for the farm is 12 years old and can only assume the person who organised this little jaunt has no common sense or understanding that an attraction targeted at much younger children is not an ideal location for a group of rowdy year 7/8 high school aged children.

My impression was that the staff had a throughly good time having their lunch and drinks and a good old natter with their friends with zero interest in actually trying to teach the children anything useful or at the very least just making sure they were behaving. If I was a parent at this school I would be extremely worried about the venues being chosen for the school trips. Must say that I did see one teacher (blonde hair, slight build ) do her best to try and regain control of the group but as no one else seemed interested in doing their jobs.

I’ll just add that I’ve been here before when other school groups have attended (of a younger age group) and have never noticed this type of behaviour or lack of monitoring by the teachers so can only assume that there is a fundamental issue within the academy as a whole.

Pathetic rules. Waited 6 weeks for a call back. Teachers on power trips. Zero learning. Was warned before sending my child there. Looking forward to getting him out
