My daughter like this school very much. Shes in Yr 2 and this is her first year @ Fernbrooke. Even us parents, Fernbrooke State Sch is better than my daughter’s previous school. Srarting from the environment, the teachers, inside the classroom and especially what she learns during class. My daughter improved more in her subjects. I highly recommend Fernbrooke state School for anyone looking for a school for their childrens .
Whatever you do please consider your child going to this school. Some of the staff are appalling with communication and the teacher is not good at all at communicating. I understand they have a whole class of children but when the inclusion teacher tells you to put all communication through to her instead of teacher because teacher can’t handle it however that’s meant to be her job and what apart of her role is to communicate with parents it’s ridiculous I don’t want to go through the inclusion and wait till she relays the teacher they have been very cold from the beginning when I’m just trying to be a proactive parent for my child who is asd the teacher has two kids who are asd also so thought she would be understanding but even when i ask what strategies are used and even when it comes to requesting anything so i can help work with the teacher and relay it back to paediatrician i get a very bitter cold shoulder it doesn’t even feel nice anymore going and been able to talk to any of the teacher because they aren’t been very helpful.

Also they will lie to you and try to say they don’t hand out certain documents when it comes to you requesting them for your child even though you are entitled to anything in regards to your child and they make it so difficult taking days on end to respond sometimes not even responding at all when her previous school made it so effortless and just sent it whenever I requested it this school lie and I know this because I got a friend of mine to request the same documents which was a tick chart for when they are administering medication and they sent hers to her and they didnt even ask any questions but with me they said the school don’t usually provide that which they are full of it.

I’m so tired of them im close to contacting the department of education about the way they are going ive had a look there website and parents have a right to access documents whenever they feel like it and if the answer is going to be no then a reason needs to be stated and it needs to come to the principal which by the way I have not heard from the principal or been allowed to speak to the principal since my daughter started I’ve been dealing with the deputy principal and inclusion Kelli who are absolutely shocking. If anything Teresa Parker has more manners than Kelli who is rude and bitter.

This Kelli has been making her own judgement and making decisions that should not be made by her and only the principal so because she tried to say no and make her own judgement when she is only the inclusion teacher she got called out for this and didn’t respond at all has ignored the email when it’s been well over a week now and yet this was over documents that she is refusing to give for the sake of it like why not just say yes okay no worries and send it it takes a few minutes to scan a tick chart it’s only 4 pages and I’m only asking for one of those pages and she is just refusing.

So the next thing is going to be us going higher.

I give this school 1 star.
The reason being that the communication to parent/teacher is appalling.
If you have an issue with bullying it won’t be taken care off.
It will be labelled an “isolated instance” in the school’s eyes.
Even if it has taken place on serval occasions.
If you take it to the principal or in my case (deputy) it will still be swept under the rug.
The best thing I have done for my child is to enroll her in a different school.
Fernbrooke became so unsafe for her and she dreaded going to school. All this took place while in Prep, her first year of school.
It has definitely affected her in a negative way. My advice would be to look elsewhere as I’ve heard the same from multiple parents, whose children used to attend Fernbrooke.
I am so grateful to have my children in such a wonderful school!
All the staff and Teachers are very friendly and professional!
Mr.Scott Curtis is an amazing Principal which is always in a good mood greeting everyone at the gate!
May God bless all in Jesus name!
I’m giving a 3 because there still needs to be alot of work done, the school opened 2years ago and they still have not sorted out proper communication with parents especially about bullying incidents when this should be an up there priority, duty of care can be lacking sometimes and some of the teachers need to be taught how to teach asd kids with a more nicer manner, the school is growing at a rapid rate so I suggest if you live out of catchment don’t bother, there is also no air con in any of the classrooms which should be a must have in this qld heat. Other then that it’s ok, I’d give 5 stars if the communication was a hell of a lot better
