We thought we had found the best place for our daughter and she seemed happy there. The atmosphere is very cute and creative. The activities and play time are awesome. However, my daughter can be very challenging which I was very upfront about upon touring the school. I was assured they had experience. My daughter attended for almost a year when we were abruptly asked to leave with no warning. It was done in the most unkind and unprofessional way. While I don’t disagree that my daughter’s behavior may have been too much for them I was shocked at how harsh they were. They called us in for a meeting which took place in a common area during pickup time and other parents could hear what was going on. They didn’t tell us what happened that day that prompted the expulsion. The communication there had always been a little challenging. They never introduced me to any of the new teachers or let us know when they left.
After being somewhat humiliated in front of other parents we had to gather our daughters things ourselves. They knew they were going to ask us to leave and didn’t even have her things ready and we didn’t get all of her stuff. The manner in which this was done was incredibly unkind and unprofessional. They didn’t even say anything nice about our daughter. It was sad.
While finally leaving with our daughter one of the
co-owners and teacher said bye to our daughter in a mean snarky way. It wasn’t necessary. My daughter is 4 and she was leaving. She always loved this school and teachers.
I’ve seen adults get fired for just reasons and were treated much better than this. There was no warning they were going to do this. Nothing verbal or written was given so I feel it would be a disservice to the community not to let you know this can happen there. Not to mention how unhealthy it is for kids to have this consequence without warning.
Our experience here was not what we thought this school represented themselves to be.
My family adores Firefly. When my child was 18 months or so, we briefly attended school elsewhere. It wasn’t bad, but I just wasn’t as impressed with it as I wanted to be. It felt stale. I ultimately took him after a couple of weeks because it didn’t feel right. 6 months later my son began asking to go to school so I wanted to give it another try. I toured and researched many schools but as soon as I found Firefly, I knew this was going to be the one. It checked all of my boxes that I couldn’t find anywhere else. The passion that the owners and teachers have for their job is truly amazing. They value children being children and from day one my son has done so well there. From the start he has been warmly embraced at the door which is something that is important to me as a parent. We love Firefly and all that they are about!
What I love about this community is that it belongs to my daughter and she belongs to her community. When she is at school she is encouraged to be herself, she is supported when she is having a bad day, and the positive communication she is guided with, comes home with her. I know when she is at school she is with a community that allows her to be her 4 year old self.

The opportunity to be outside in the morning and the afternoon is also really cool. Even though it makes pick up challenging, she sometimes doesn’t want to leave. I am really grateful to have the teachers at FCS. They have invested so much time into helping her grow into the independent 4 year old she is today. They also potty trained her – like for real, they potty trained her.
