Interestingly enough the only explanation I have for my experience here is that I am always on assignment, so sometimes when things don’t go as planned I realize there’s a greater chance something is going on behind the scenes I know nothing about.

I realize it’s not so much about me as it’s about us all.

In this case I ended up going to a place where I had put my trust in what I thought were professionals fostering education to help their students achieve success and pursue excellence with their skills and knowledge.

I should have know from the moment I found out these people didn’t even put in my appointment, when I was the one to call and confirm ‘my said’ appointment and barely answer when I call that the level of professionalism and care is horrible, but I decided to give them a shot because of the reviews. ?????

Friendly reminder, always listen to your instincts but then follow suit.

From the moment I walked in the door Essence behind the desk was there to greet me, which was nice after what I thought was poor customer service over the phone call attempts.

However, it ended there. Once introduced by the instructor Ms. Jones…

She didn’t consult with me directly what she did was provide a clever display of dislike, although initially I greeted her kindly and asked her how she’s doing, there was no willingness to engage or warmth.

Despite all of this I still had faith that she had no reason to have ill will towards me and maybe that’s just how she is.

When she saw my hair color was lighter at the top than the bottom, I reassured her I hadn’t done anything to my hair since 2 years ago as far as color is concerned and she almost insinuated that I could be lying.

I brushed it off, as mere speculation but it definitely rubbed me the wrong way, because her energy was off talking semantics as if I were there for a class rather than a consultation service so I just let her do her job and tried to relax.

Before we started I told the student I have gel and oils drenched in my hair and she said it’s okay and didn’t even think twice about it, began to part my hair and just started adding bleach in it.

I had to stop the student and ask her what she was doing to my hair, because my past experience said wait last time to achieve this look they use strips of hair and wrap it in foil to bleach only those parts so it was evident at this point the student had no clue what she was doing and Ms Jones pretty much excused herself because it wasn’t important to help her student or me.

So, essentially the whole time I sat there as their lab rat.

First, it started with bleach at the ends of my hair but then she worked it all the way up with half inch for my roots so I became concerned and asked the instructor to explain to me what is going on.

She told me this is her way of doing it and everyone does it differently and not to worry bc I will still have the same look.

My hair was supposed to look like a picture I had of myself that I showed them with my previous color. Which was like any other mixture or color to achieve blended look of light browns and blonde highlights at the bottom of hair rather than a whole head of highlights.

Soon after the bleach washed out I saw literally my most of my hair is bleached not just the ends and the hair turned Copper rather than blonde and they said it’s YOUR HAIR!

It won’t go to the blonde you want so it’s not our fault. I asked them to at least tone it down to get my hair to neutralize.

They told me to go somewhere else because they didn’t want to make it worse!!

Total discrimination (against my hair!!!???)

Worst part is they charge you up front for services and try to threaten me with giving me my money back until I reassured them I will dispute it with my bank.

To top it off the directors husband tried to play down my complaint about the lack of technique and professionalism then had the audacity to correct me and say all his students aren’t trained!!!

I am totally offended by the level disgust they expressed towards me from the moment I walked in for my appointment.

I’ve been coming here with my daughters son and mother for a few years now for our hair upkeep, but I’d never tried a facial. When I tell you I didn’t know what I was missing! The atmosphere was so quiet and calming I felt like a pampered baby. I will be coming back to keep my skin nourished. This school is truly a gem in the area that shouldn’t be overlooked. My esthetician (future) was amazing these ladies have clearly been taught by one of the best felt as if I had a glass of wine for my face(relaxed). Thank you so much for my services. You Won’t Be Disappointed
Horrible blow out and flat iron experience. The girl working on my hair didn’t know how to blow dry hair straight and the instructor didn’t know what she was doing either. Clearly no experience with natural black hair even though everyone there was black. I went home and did my hair all over again myself. Wasn’t even worth the discounted price. So disappointing
