My child attends Fusion Academy Brooklyn for grade 7 and this was a perfect fit for her. By October 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, I realized that remote learning in a more traditional school setting was not going to work for her, with thirty students online and one teacher. My child was getting distracted and frustrated, her learning was not progressing, and getting her to do her homework was causing stress and conflict at home. The one-on-one attention at Fusion enabled her to develop a rapport with her teachers and she became increasingly engaged in her learning. This, in turn, built her confidence and she has greatly progressed academically. I am grateful to Fusion for this support and highly recommend this learning model, which is tailored to the student’s own learning style and needs.
School administration is a mess. There is a massive drug problem among the students. The school is advertised as an alternative school for people who don’t do well in public school but it ended up being a lot of mentally Ill students without the proper staff to help them. This made the rest of the students who weren’t suffering with mental illness have to deal with a good deal more than they bargained for. The head of school has no interest in listening to the feedback of parents or students. You would do well to find another school with a better administration.
