The classes are some of the most advanced and difficult classes a middle schooler can take. In some ways its beneficial because the teachers do teach the curriculum, but the test that teachers give tend to be completely unrelated to the classroom material and students find that cheating is the only way to pass. Most of the time teachers also tend to give way to much homework in a short amount of time or give projects that are so outrageously stressful and long.
The teachers in Carver are hands down the most disrespectful pieces of trash you will ever meet with some exceptions. I have been picked on by numerous teachers for doing things I have not done and teachers refuse to let me speak. I’ve had this problem more times than necessary and this is what made my Carver experience so dreadful. If it were up to me, the teaching staff would be almost completely fired and replaced. Not to mention some teachers were stuck into classes that have nothing to do with their specialty meaning the teachers spend the entire year talking about something they don’t even know about (example: a musical history/band teacher teaching U.S. history)
The staff at carver was not the best the not the worst. The dress code is too strict and i think administration needs to understand that hoodies do not mean that we are trying to rebel against the school. The staff can be understanding at times, but also very disrespectful to students wishes. They have a difficult time understanding what it is that the students want and what they think is best for the school. A main thing that will help the administration pay attention to you and respect you is to not break any rules and stay out of trouble and having a good reputation never hurts. The counselors (to me) were very helpful when needed, but they liked me personally and I have heard other people’s stories about how they are not as nice and loving as they were with me.
My overall experience was terrible. The teachers made my life a living hell and I will never forget all the stress and crying and panic attacks caused by these teachers. There were some teachers who made my experience slightly more tolerable, but there are drastic changes that need to be made in this school. I wish all the best for this school because it will hold a special place in my heart. I might all of my best friends here and we bonded and I can only thank carver for that. Besides this, without some major changes, this school will remain the school with the highest amount of cheating students, the most disrespectful staff, and the nastiest classrooms and bathrooms. I sincerely do hope that changes are made to make future students have better experiences.
On the other hand, Carvers got some of the best people Ive ever met. Some of the teachers will understand your problems, some of them will make you feel like you have a reason to be here, and some of them will do a better job of teaching than youd expect. I think bullying is not so big of an issue here, because we go by the idea that were all suffering under the same hell, were all doing the same stuff, so why bother to pick on each other, when we can just make things easier for everyone? Because even if the day was disastrous and we made it to the finish line in a sloppy race, lets be real, were still suffering all the same, we still made it to the end, and we did it together. Embrace that.
I cant say these were the best three years of my life, but for some people, they would relive these three years in a heartbeat. If youre coming to Carver, it really depends on who you are as a person, what classes youll take, what teachers youll have, what kinds of friends youll make, and who you choose to be. Maybe itll be a nightmare for you, but itll get better with each day as you count down to your eighth grade graduation. Good luck.
