This school is awful. Some students and staff are probably some of the worst I’ve seen in my life. Every time I go to this school I always feel like I am in prison. Most students are lazy and cause lots of problems and some teachers are careless about their students education. They’re graffiti and poop in one of the bathroom walls, and it hasn’t even been cleaned since the day I saw it!! The school is poorly designed, no windows in most classrooms and it just looks like some old prison or something, it has aged terribly. The school lunch is okay, both cafeterias are small and equal size. This school has a problem with overcrowding, I think around 2,000 people attend this school. The small hallways are always clogged up by 2,000 students, some students just stand there and talk with others instead of attending their next class, it makes me MAD. This school is also one of the smallest I’ve seen, my old middle school back in Arlington was about the same size as this and it only had around 900 people, which is a bit under populated, but it is way better than this dump, I also know the high schools in Arlington/Fairfax/Alexandria are one of the best in the area, Garfield & Freedom are awful schools. They’re fights almost all the time here. The bathrooms get crowded very quickly, it’s too uncomfortable. Remember, I am talking about the school in general, not everyone is like this. I care about my education and I have gotten A’s and B’s in the first quarter, but I honestly taught myself some of the material because the teachers are always disrupted by the kids here. I know they’re a few Gar-Field students that care aswell. Sad that a place like Prince William County has a school like this, where as surrounding areas have 10x better schools.
In my experience, this school is awful! To anyone who is new to the area and the city of Woodbridge like I was, I would NOT recommend you come here. This school has a very bad rep, and it’s not a false accusation. Coming from Fairfax County, I’ve heard a lot of bad rumors about this school and even city before I came here. Through my few months of being here (now), I’ve realized that this is one of the worst schools in this county! This school presents themselves as a “really good school” because of their IB Program, when in reality that’s all they specialize in because the county doesn’t have enough funding for more programs for one individual school. Most of the teachers I know here are such slackers and get way too distracted with interacting with the students WHILE teaching… Which wastes so much time and leaves not enough time to learn the full material of what was being taught. Even with the IB teachers, some of them have no idea how to teach an advanced class and plainly reads off of a paper (completely monotoned) while what they say have no purpose. The school’s overall schedules, time management, logic, and ideas are so irrational at times, and once something is put into place, it is soon forgotten about. And, not only are some of the teachers horrible, it goes the same for the students… No bullying is taken seriously, and there isn’t anything situated for profanities, innapropriate language and situations. Teachers are the ones who makes the students, and students who make the school, but with all the problems here it is really hard to even make the school situated to even have a B- niche! The main problem with this school is that they’re not willing to make a major change to it.
