The school has zero compassion for it’s students.
I was registered for Fall classes in 2023, and had to drop out after two weeks, as I was having catastrophic vehicle problems and could not make it to classes, as well as going to work full time. I dropped the classes and thought nothing more of it, as I had not even attended a single class on my schedule for that first couple weeks.
Cut to me getting a letter in the mail saying I owe the school $600+, and as someone who lives paycheck to paycheck already, I can’t afford the extra payments. I contacted the school and explained the situation to my student finance specialist to see if there was any way to have this waived due to financial hardship, and was told there was absolutely nothing they could do.
I know $600 is not a lot to Gateway but that out of pocket for me is not something I can just take the hit on.
I have emailed the President of the school and that was pushed off to an executive director, which that email chain has been going for over a month, and I have been able to get zero help other than to apply for scholarships next semester.
I am extremely disheartened, and I understand this is the only option for a lot of folks looking to further their education but the way I feel this situation has been handled I cannot recommend this school to anyone on principal.
