This will be quite long, so bear with me. If you are reading this trying to figure out which school you should go to or which school you want your kids to go to, I myself was a student at this school (Years 7, 8, and 9) (2013–2016), so I’m considered one of the oldest students of the school. I don’t know why I’m writing this after all this time, but it popped up on my phone, and I just wanted to share my own experience so I could benefit others. This is my own experience from that time; I don’t know if they’ve changed or not. Learning-wise, the school did not provide any real information. In my brain, as a student, it’s like I wasted four years of my life with zero knowledge. I’m saying this because when I left the school, I saw the difference in the way of teaching and the way of treating students like a big family. I hope they’ve changed for the better. Now let’s come to where I should really be warning you all. Speaking from my own personal experience that I had at that school, this school traumatized me mentally. Most teachers were very ignorant and not friendly at all, considering I was a kid at the time. They put you through the most brain-damaging type of detention if you do anything bad or if they imagine you’re doing something wrong. Firstly, they put you in the supervisor’s office (Ms. Ester) for the whole day and make you write a whole letter about what you have done. Thinking back on it, a 13-year-old kid should never experience this type of treatment, even if it’s detention. They want to make you feel like you have committed an actual crime and that you should write about it. This happened to me many, many times, and it made me feel like I was unwanted, unlike the other children, and it also happened to a lot of other students. Afterward, they give you a green book so teachers can evaluate you for a whole week, and if you fail this evaluation, you get suspended, and that happened to me too. Although I was trying my best to get good evaluations, some teachers, as I said, were not friendly to the point that I would behave all lesson but would get a bad evaluation either way, and to
Feedback from call with Ms … @ Gems Winchester, AUH
Represents poor standard of GEMS. Although GEMS is professional, I would like to share my feedback after this call. I called the number given on the website; it is not functional and gave a mobile number. She was very rude! Her responses sounded very unprofessional.
It gives the impression that one should never call here!! I request that GEMS management employ a professional to respond to queries, someone who has good peace of mind rather than being hot-headed.
I truly believe that GEMS is a renowned and valuable addition to the entire education system.
Thanks
Ms. Vidya is an exceptional secondary math teacher who excels in simplifying complex concepts and fostering a supportive learning environment. Her dedication to her students’ success is truly admirable. Thanks to her teaching, my Year 7 daughter’s understanding of math has greatly improved, and her grades have soared. I highly recommend Ms. Vidya as a top-notch math teacher in Gems Winchester School Abu Dhabi.
I’m one of the students, and the school is really great! I like the teachers; they’re nice.
I am a student at WSA, and it changed me from a C-grade student to an A-grade student! I love the teaching style, and the staff is amazing! I wish Years 10, 11, 12, and 13 were there because I will miss this school so much! (Special thanks to Secondary Heads Miss Naazneen and Miss Maimoona!) Edit: I wrote this review in Year 6. I am/was in Year 8. In the beginning, the school was excellent, as stated above. However, if you want your child to have a happy middle school experience, don’t put them in Years 8 and 9. The rules regarding bullying are incredibly lenient, and foreign/non-Arab students, especially, get bullied a lot. I saw many people getting severely bullied—physically, verbally, and mentally—and after any complaints, the consequence was a single warning and nothing else. For example, a student was bullying my friend, and she defended herself and her dignity, but my friend was punished for it. So, if you want your child to avoid bullying, please talk directly to the school about it and remove them if they are bullied.
I’ve been a student at WSA ever since it opened (2013) and I love the school! Great teachers, fun activities, and I’ve learned a lot of valuable information. I studied at Gems from FS-Y8 and loved my time there!
I cannot say enough great things about BISAD. From our first interaction with the admissions officer, we knew we were in for a wonderful experience. She was warm, friendly, and made us feel right at home. Our daughter joined BISAD in the second term of Year 9, and we were amazed at how quickly she settled in and felt like part of the BISAD family. This is all thanks to the exceptional staff who went above and beyond to make her feel welcome.
The teachers at BISAD are truly outstanding. They are not only knowledgeable in their respective subjects but also passionate about teaching and genuinely care about their students’ growth and success. Our daughter has formed great relationships with her teachers, who have provided her with the guidance and support she needs to thrive academically.
One aspect that stands out about BISAD is the welcoming and inclusive environment. The school fosters a sense of community, and students from different backgrounds and cultures all come together harmoniously. Our daughter has made friends from all over the world, and it’s truly amazing to see the bonds they have formed.
Overall, we could not be happier with our choice of school. BISAD is an outstanding institution that provides an exceptional education. The warmth and inclusivity of the staff, along with the dedication of the teachers, contribute to an environment where students can flourish. We highly recommend BISAD to anyone looking for an outstanding school for their child. It truly deserves a 10/10 rating.
