So far so good. I’m a parent, my child is in the 2nd grade and has attended since PK. His teachers: Mrs. Levitt for PK, Mrs. Gross for K, and Mrs. Cross for 1st, have all been amazing. We had a couple of incidents of bullying and poor behavior on the bus but when I called the school, teachers, counselors, and transportation dept they all got on board and took action. I dont play. They use the Pals evaluation to determine your child’s level of performance, my child has always shown high marks and shown improvements all around by the end of the school year. It’s too early in the year to give an honest assessment of his 2nd Grade teacher but stay tuned for any updates. I would recommend this school, they even get higher mark’s on reading, math and science than the local magnet schools. Classrooms have been averaging 20 kids to 1 teacher and 1 assistant. They are good about writing notes home if your child misbehaves in class. I’m one of those parents that doesn’t expect the teachers to do the disciplining or parenting for me so I can appreciate being informed on my child’s behavior when I’m not around. We’re only 2 weeks into this school year and someone in my child’s class had already stolen a few of his materials! Hopefully that’s not a sign of things to come.
My daughter went to this school last year and loved her teacher. She did extremely well in her class. We went on a week long trip in September to see family, that was unfortunately the only time we could do it. Not only did I notify the teacher at the “meet the teacher night”, I sent a note the week before, emailed and called her multiple times to let her know. She never responded to my attempts to discuss this with her or sent home the packet of work that she had said she would give me at the meeting. Fine, no big deal. The entire time we were gone the front office continually harassed me to find out where my child was and why she wasn’t in school. I spoke to at least 4 different people in regards to this and was absolutely disgusted with the lack of communication. Fast forward to this year. We have moved to a different state. I am STILL getting calls from them claiming my daughter is truant. Even though I did the necessary steps and had my daughter’s new school contact them. If you can I would highly recommend not attending.
The school is terrible, the staff and teachers are always yelling and have no respect for students, even the food is terrible, some of the food they give us had mold in my and is just so disgusting that’s why I’m always starving everyday because I choose NOT to eat the food. Even the lunch ladies are mean and have NO respect what so ever.
