My child was enrolled in this school for little over 1 year and it was not a pleasant experience. We came from an out of state school where my daughter was enrolled in honors classes and upon registration at GHS we were “warned” by her counselor that GHS was not just some “Country Bumpkin” school and that it would probably be too hard for her to continue with that schedule. I politely disagreed and my daughter continued with her classes and never struggled. The instruction was not what we expected and my daughter found herself bored and doing most of her work alone without any teacher direction. We had several issues with the counselor’s office where my daughter tried to get her schedule adjusted after being put into classes she didn’t ask for or need and had tested out of and it took her weeks to get an appointment to just sit down with her counselor. We also had an issue where my child needed to leave school for a personal emergency and I called the office to give my permission and offered to send an email with my consent and they REFUSED to let my child, who drove and had her own transportation, leave the school until I left my job and drove all the way there to sign her out. As I mentioned, this was a personal emergency that I was trying to handle discretely and before it was over, almost everyone in the office and counselors office knew of the situation which only added more embarrassment to my already upset child. Luckily we have recently moved back out of state and upon starting classes at her new/old school (she had attended this school before GHS) we quickly realized how far behind she was for her grade and with the instruction in her classes. She has had to work very hard to catch up but I am glad that she has and that we got her back into a school that puts its curriculum first and not its sports teams. Even the withdrawal process at GHS was a nightmare. I hate that part of her high school experience was so unpleasant but glad that her time there was brief.
We have lived in 4 different states so I’ve dealt with several schools along the way and this was the only school we have ever had issues with. I thought I did my research when moving to Madison and I picked our neighborhood based on the school district so needless to say I was extremely disappointed.
this school literally gives me a headache. I swear these kids up here get on my nerves.ESPECIALLY MRS HICKS. I mean she cool but god lee bruh , other than that this school aight, they need to turn up a lil bit. Also we want majorettes. we want a new band director!!! have a nice day!!1
