Beware Christian Parents: Secular school that claims to be Christian

If you are a Christ following believer and are looking for a school which reflects Christian values, I would like to speak from experience that this is not a school that does this. I have put a lot of thought and prayer into this review and I almost did not write it, but I wish that I would have gotten a warning from a previous Christ following parent before enrolling my children in this school.

We originally enrolled our children before the holidays of 2021. The school claimed to be a Christian school and seemed to be affiliated with the church, Grace Crossing.

Our first clue that’s this was more of a secular school came whenever the month of October hit and the school was celebrating Halloween. The staff were dressing up in costumes and encouraging the kids to do the same. As a Christian family, we do not celebrate Halloween and would prefer the school that our children attend to carry the same values if this is what we intentionally seek out.

Our next clue came around December whenever all of the staff was encouraging talk about Santa. For some Christians, they still celebrate Santa. But in our family, we do not. We keep our focus primarily on Christ. At the Christmas concert special, we noticed that every song that the kids sang was about Santa or reindeer. Not one song was about Christ. A night and day difference from the school our older kids attend in which all of the songs sang at the Christmas special were exemplifying Christ, not Santa. When I reached out to the Director of the school, I shared my concerns on the matter. I asked if there was any way in the future for the following year to include more songs about Jesus instead of Santa and I was told no, that the school has no intentions on changing any of the songs or including any songs that had to do with Christ. This was our biggest red flag and we should have unenrolled our children then.

The final straw that broke the camels back was a few months later when we started noticing feminine traits within our son. My husband and I had also noticed that there was a homosexual man on staff (Again, I know everyone’s convictions are different. But in our family, we believe the Bible. We also have close family friends who used to live that lifestyle and have been freed from it when they have their life to Christ. So we 100% believe someone can be delivered if they want to be). Needless to say, we believed that the characteristic traits in that young teacher started to rub off on our son. We have since prayed over our son and no longer see these characteristic traits coming out. We did however take our concern to the Director and we were met with denial. It turns out, that was the directors son. And he is a teacher there at the school.

Disclaimer: this review is for true Christ followers who believe in the Bible. We do not expect anyone of the world to understand this review. But again, we wish that another family would have forewarned us before enrolling our children.

The only reason we give the school one star is because they claim to be Christian, but they are not. And they do not care when you bring these concerns to their attention. They celebrate Halloween, Christmas songs during the Christmas special do not include Christ and they allow homosexual staff members to teach the children. This comes off much more as a secular school rather than a Christian school.

I will say, I took my concerns to the lead pastor of the church next-door, Grace Crossing. The pastor seemed to have no idea what I was talking about and was completely clueless of these concerns. He seems to be very nice and a true follower of Christ. And he did share that the church is not affiliated with the school.

We hope this review helps other Christ following families in their search.

We chose to enroll our child in GCA, because their after care options worked for our family needs. We enrolled early in the year before Covid and paid the registration fee. GCA sent out an email in July changing their after care options. Because these options no longer work for our family, we chose to withdrawal our child and find something new. Because GCA changed the terms of the original agreement, we asked for our registration fee back. Not only did director Tim Hicks refuse a refund, he has also ignored every email and phone call since and refused to put me in contact with his superiors. I originally loved the idea of my child attending a school where christian values were taught. It is clear to me now that we made the right decision in removing our child. I am appalled at the way this matter has been handled by the director and the church.
We put our son in a two day a week program here, and for 3 years he attended. We loved the teachers and the whole staff who genuinely work as a team and care about each and every child there. Our son learned so much even for his age, and we gained a very real sense of protection and care from the school. My only criticism would be that we were hit with hidden costs 5 or 6 times throughout each year for things we are sure we paid for in the beginning. But the teachers are amazing concerning communication from teacher to parent, we got daily updates with pictures, and we could contact them anytime if we had questions or concerns. Also the cost, minus the hidden charges, is very competitive and affordable even for full time care. We love our Grace Crossing Family
