Ugh…I hate that I even have to give this school one star, however in order to post this review, I do. Green Hope has been a complete nightmare since my daughter started there 3 years ago. If your child is in ANY way out of societal “normal” limits, they WILL be bullied, extensively. My daughter will be a junior this year, and has been pushed through her classes, being passed last year and even given credits for completion of her math classes she has failed, simply because she took a week of summer school. She still has not grasped the simple basic concepts of those classes, yet the administration continues to push her on, because they need to look successful.

If your child is not academic, or athletic, prepare for a long 4 years of being harassed, bullied and mistreated by their peers for being “different”, and being basically ignored by the staff, who will do just enough to cover their asses legally, in case your child actually either commits suicide, or tries. I tried to transfer my daughter, and was told she isn’t eligible, because the staff “Is working with her and her parents to try to help.” My daughter suffers from severe depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety so bad that she has issues with acid reflux now, and was actually hospitalized for these issues before the end of the school year this year. She is now, since moving to this school district, changed from a bright, artistic, well rounded child, to a child who is taking 3 different medications for depression/anxiety, has been hospitalized, is seeing a psychologist AND a therapist weekly/bi-weekly, and is basically a train wreck.

I will never recommend this school to ANYONE, and I am actually fighting to transfer her to another school which has of course been denied, even though I have offered a lot of documentation from counselors, therapists and doctors that show she needs the transfer. What a terrible school, and shame on the adults who do “just enough” to keep their hands clean and legally not obligated should my child decide to kill herself.

Schools out for a work day (no students) and I come in for a parent teacher conference. The Secretary is out yaking with friends in the drop off area when I came in. I go to the office and no one is around. I wait 30 seconds and see no one. Walk out and go around to attendance office. It’s closed also. My teacher told me to originally come to the room for the meeting so I decided to leave the office area. When I get down the hall, the woman secretary out on the drop off area comes in an yells, “What are you doing there”. I said going to a conference. She made me come back in the office so they could call the teacher. I told her that I did not need to be talked to that way and that if she had been doing her job in the first place everything would have gone smooth. I am a parent and I do not deserve to be disrespected. She’s lucky I didn’t take her straight to the Principal.
Oh my gosh through experience if you have a kid who takes CA classes I DO NOT recommend this school the teachers there have HORRIBLE judgment and they’re also passive aggressive. Through freshman and senior year I have been bullied by a few of these teachers (specially two) anyways she and he always turned the other students against me making it close to impossible to make friends. Particularly Mr. Ellis was someone who made it very unfair and always had his favorite students get a slap on the wrist for cussing out a teacher while I get a suspension. He lets these “hoodlums” get away with anything and in my opinion that’s just messed up especially because his assistance teacher treats everyone like they don’t matter I’m sick of it and no one should go through what I did trust me it’s the right choice to avoid years of these terrible CA teachers
