Ill do you all a favor by saying RUN. RUN as far as you can from this school if you want to keep your sanity, your financial stability, and your health in check. From the beginning at the first interview I should have walked away. The program directors were belittling, demeaning, and insulting for the FIRST interview to get into the program. I didnt trust my intuition and instead spent 1.5 years in mental anguish at this school. They were unsupportive from start to finish. The clinical program was disorganized and the clinical sites where they send you to include clinical instructors that are uneducated, rude, disrespectful, and racist. After complaining several times to the directors at the program my concerns went unnoticed. The harassment and mistreatment I received from this school drove me to a mental breakdown and I had to receive therapy and drop out. I am now $50,000 in debt and to top it off they called and told me I also owe $5,000 for dropping out of the program. I am now sent to collections. If I can do anything in life its to warn one of you to choose a different school. Save yourself.
I am a current student of Gurnick Academys sonography program. Aside from the admissions process, which could have been improved just by a bit more communication and the massive amount of money I have already spent on coffee, I have nothing but great things to say about this program. The program is extremely challenging, but this is going to push me and my classmates to be the very best. The instructors, who are all sonographers themselves, have a vast amount of knowledge and are dedicated to seeing all the students succeed. This program allows for a ton of scanning time in the lab (five days a week) and there are many amazing clinical sites available for students, which include hospital and outpatient opportunities. Lastly, the program director is always there to support all the students and challenge us every day to improve not only our scanning skills but our critical thinking skills as well so we can be the best diagnostic sonographers, not just picture takers that we can be!
I am a current Ultrasound student at Gurnick Academy and I am pleased with my decision to apply to this program. This is NOT an easy program, it will challenge you in many ways. However, you are given plenty of support and resources to help you succeed. I have yet to have a day where we are not able to practice scanning, which is very impressive compared to other programs. All instructors are experienced sonographers that set clear expectations for student performance. The director of the Ultrasound Program, Jorge, will go above and beyond for his students while preparing us for the field and anything it may throw at us. I would recommend this program to anyone looking for a serious and successful career in ultrasound.
