I recently started flying out of this FBO to get my PPL. The reviews here are a little out dated. It was bought by a new owner and he’s fantastic. The hangar was built during WW2 so don’t be turned off by the outside. It is pretty much a historical landmark. The inside is awesome, complete with a great place to sit and a mini-fridge to grab some refreshments if you need them. I have only flown with Joe and can tell you he is an awesome CFI. I have never been discouraged or nervous when interacting with him in anyway. The planes are very well maintained and they keep track of required maintenance very well. The first time I went in, one was actually being torn down for 100 hour. I have never had a question go unanswered and always feel informed during my flights. If you ever wanted to learn to fly planes or have ever wondered if general aviation is for you, I highly recommend giving H1 a call and taking a discovery flight.
Bought a gift certificate in 2015 to use in 2016. Attempted multiple times to schedule a flight and was either rescheduled or cancelled. When we actually were scheduled to fly the pilot had to fly to another city last minute and stopped answering my phone calls. I have tried calling and emailing the owner for a refund to no avail. Very disappointed.
Update: Waited a year and the new owners honored the gift certificate. We got to fly with Tom and he was AMAZING.
