I have been attending Harmony School of Political Science since I was in 8th grade (I am a Sophomore now) and I can honestly say it has its ups and downs. While I like the schools diversity and some of the classes are great, other classes push us way too hard to a point that we don’t even know what we’re doing anymore. We just get random tests here and there and they are over something that we never got to review. And I personally was out for 2 classes and did not receive the test review and still had to take the test. Also, as a girl, I am getting pulled out of class because I am wearing “skinny jeans”. They say that a tighter pant is “distracting to the male students”. They have not pushed the fact that skinny jeans are not allowed the whole 3 years I have been attending, why now? Why are they teaching us young women that our bodies are a distraction? I will say that Harmony is great if you want to be pushed to extreme limits, but not if you actually have a life and don’t want to sit around and study all day.
I liked the school. I have a a boy in 5th grade! I love the way they teach! I don’t have problems with the discipline .I like when they push you for more! The teacher’s in fifth grade are amazing and very accessible when you need a respond about your worries. I saw other comments about the uniform and cell phone and chromebooks.well….well if you don’t want uniform go to a public school..uniform give the students equality! The school is for learn not for keep texting or checking facebook..and if your chromebooks are block for other thing probably is because you need your chromebooks for learn subjects about your courses and not for other purposes ! Really!! The best education we can get is not depending about the school is about your goals in you life and how hard we can work for get it.
The school a warm feeling and kids are well taken care of. It is an academically aligned school. There is no a direct yes or no but public schools have a little of it all -Sports and academics etc. vs this school has exceptional focus on academics; also while providing all exposure needed in sports for different age groups. A whole variety of clubs: music, chess, math, etc. The school has an active parent participation and depending on the child’s learning capability he/she is challenged in TAG and other learning methods to grow. Our son has been here 4 years and we have been a very happy FAMILY for being part of HSPS. We love the teachers and find the school aligned to what we wanted for our kids building blocks and learning curve. Thank you HSPS
