Absolutely Horrific! My child is in kindergarten so this is our first year at HSA, and it has been a great disappointment for the standards I assumed they would have at a “charter” school. My daughter has been sick 4 times this semester because students and staff aren’t required to wear masks. We’ve sent our daughter to school with her mask on everyday for the last month and every single day she comes to the car with it off with a runny nose or cough. The staff are very unprofessional, they have attitudes, even the principal to the point that I don’t know what my child has to deal with when I’m not there and it horrifies me. She’s been complaining all year, coming home sad almost daily wanting to go back to her old school. Her teacher has been absolutely disrespectful and unprofessional to me as we communicate through Class DoJo. I wanted to know why they were sending all of her necessary school supplies home in her backpack everyday, and was told that she needs to take her own supplies out and leave them. What?! She’s 5 years old, at a new school, and she never had to do that so I don’t trust them with my child. And why is she coming home with most of her lunch still in her lunchbox m? I don’t think she’s safe or being handled with care. They don’t answer the phones, which is stressful to parents especially in an emergency situation. I’ve never seen a school like this one and would assume that a charter school would be more professional and kind. Well it’s not worth it and don’t deserve any donations to continue to be disrespectful and unprofessional to parents and students. I’m at a point where I’m tires of her coming home sick knowing that, even if I keep her home while she’s sick, as soon as she returns she’s going to be sick again and she doesn’t deserve that. Now the staff is giving me information about what happens if you miss to many days. This experience is just not worth it
My child has gone here for three years now. I’m happy with HSA. Although there have been some bumps in the road, every single time we’ve had an issue they’ve worked with us to resolved them. My child qualifies for accommodated learning and they’ve gone above and beyond to help him be successful every step of the way. Prior to HSA, my son was in a school that treated him terribly and because of that experience, he didn’t like learning or being in school. Over time HSA has been instrumental helping us motivate our son to enjoy school and learning. They gradually increased the expectations on him so could reach reasonable goals and become a more confident student. HSA offers a challenging learning environment and they have a wonderfully diverse student population. I feel it’s slim pickens when it comes to schools in on this side of the metropolis. I’m grateful my son is in this school. There’s no telling where he’d be if it weren’t for the teachers and administrators at HSA that take their job seriously and want to make a difference in kid’s lives. I believe that parents and schools need to work together to give our children a well rounded education and childhood, HSA does that with us.
I absolutely ? our HSA family! We have been a part of this family since 2013. The teachers have all been pretty amazing! If I ever had an issue, we were able to talk and resolve it together.

My family is proud to say we have made life-long friendships and cherish all that the teachers do to ensure the students succeed academically!

Our daughter started kindergarten during all the COVID madness and her teacher has gone above and beyond to ensure she is learning! Thank you Mrs. Evans and thank you to the leadership at HSA for working so hard to foster such an awesome environment for our kids and for the families!
