HSI- Katy is a God sent! A perfect STEM school with amazingly qualified and motivated teachers, small class sizes, state of the art STEM labs, no hidden corners, and no bullying. Sky is the limit to what can be accomplished here!!
I live in Katy and pay KISD taxes. KISD being as awesome as it is in its own right, yet when Harmony came to town in 2011, I moved my boys to Harmony because of the STEM focused charter and individual attention they offered. Today, after six years, I can safely say that it’s the best decision that I’ve ever made. I have a senior and a sophomore at Harmony School of Innovation in Katy. The small class sizes, and the STEM opportunities have rendered my sons well rounded individuals. They are both are not only Straight A honor Roll students, and soccer players on the Texas Charter League, but also get to participate and excel in local, state, and national level science and math competitions, have community service opportunities via NHS, and HOSA, and take hands on Project Lead the Way Subjects like Introduction to Human BodySystems, Principles of Biomedical Sciences and Medical Intervention, all under the same roof. The staff at Harmony is amazingly selfless and dedicated, and the parents have become a close knit community! These are highly educated professional doctor and engineer parents from an affluent community! Their trust in the HarmonySystem in itself speaks volumes!
Undoubtedly, the future leaders of tomorrow are being carved at these Harmony Charter Schools.
Students from Harmony School of Innovation Katy are not only being accepted at TAMU and UT Austin, but at Rice, at Stanford, at UC Berkeley, at Johns Hopkins…and the list of prestigious college acceptances continues! These statistics speak for themselves. Harmony isn’t just doing something right! They are doing everything right. That’s why peoplelike myself, in spite of paying KISD taxes, keep our children at Harmony.
I am a parent of 2 kids. My son graduated from HSA-WH in 2016. My daughter is in high school at HSI-Katy (these are the same school, the name changed).

I was a high school teacher for part of my career, I know what it is like in a classroom. I know what it takes to bring a group of kids to a higher level of understanding by engaging their curiosity and engendering a sense confidence in their own abilities.

I choose to pull my kids out of the general Fort Bend schools and send them to Harmony Katy because the environment at this school is conducive my educational goals for my kids.
The teachers and administrators work tirelessly (seriously, most put in 10-12 hour days). While, not every teacher’s style was my favorite, their goals and effort never been a question.

My son graduated and matriculated directly to a college program. He was well prepared for the academic level of his classses. Many of his classmates have followed the same path; a few have joined the military and some have found jobs and are contributing members of the greater Houston Community. My son has maintained friendships with everyone of his classmates and several of his teachers from Harmony. In retrospect, he agrees, Harmony was a great choice.

I see a lot of reviews written here about the quality of the food. To those folks (mostly kids I believe) schools are not restaurants. The option to bring your own food is available to you.

No one prompted me for 5 start reviews. This is my experience as the parent of a teenager.

You can’t have it all. The school food is no good and the aesthetics may not be clorox neat but I can make home lunch as long as long my child’s character is built with educational excellence. We’re in school to learn right? That’s the primary purpose of school.

I withdrew my child from the regular Fort Bend school because she was getting quite distracted,as expected with a new pre-teen in a non-uniformed school with other 12 year olds acting and living the lives like fully frown adults. We moved from Alief ISD to Fort Bend ISD. The school we were zoned to in FBISD has higher ratings than Alief ISD but with my personal experience, I’m yet to understand how?

But here at Harmony, I see teachers dressed up, looking respectable with a purpose. I see teenagers playing at the dismissal like balanced teenagers should and not in ganged up “adult -looking” mini groups like the previous government school.
I learnt the teachers are strict but that’s what I expect if a teacher intends to impact knowledge. There’s a time to work, a time to play .

Overall,I’m happy we’re here, heard the school has a lot of immigrant kids (Africans, Asians etc), so I believe you know what to expect in terms of discipline and ratings of educational success.
