I literally sat in a two hour meeting and listened to the director talk about how they give children chances and they don’t judge nor do they give up. “We give our students time to develop in everything academic and thrive to achieve those goals parents are looking to meet with their children”. They talked a big deal about others giving up on kids and diagnosis kids with learning disorders. Yet when it came to me experiencing the same thing with my child I did not receive any of that from this facility. Communication is terrible. The director is never in and to speak with him over the phone on a threeway call on speaker is very unprofessional. My daughter first day here she was sent home due to her climbing on furniture. I was told she couldn’t return until the director said so. So a week went by I start calling myself to speak about her return. Another week went by no return call from the director regarding her return. A month goes by and my child is still out of school. Here I am going into the school to take her to class because at this point what’s going on I’m not hearing back from anybody. Just for the lady to say my child can’t come in because the director didn’t give the ok. So I left frustrated with my child and had to call off work to figure things out. So I called the school to just get a transfer and I was connected on a threeway call with the director speaker to speaker. As I begin to explain what’s going on and how they have failed to contact me back about her return I was cut off by the director and told he wasn’t going to listen to me yell at him and cut him off. Mind you not once did I yell I only was giving a run down on how many times I had called and they failed to reach back. As I was speaking he had asked his staff to hang the phone up on me because I was over talking him. I was so hurt by his actions and confused. For the staff to even think that was ok and actually hang up hurt me even more. So I contacted the board and I also have spoken with an attorney regarding this issue. I do not appreciate how the director handled me and my child. Literally was put out on her first day. Also when I called back the following week for her transfer I was told she was never in the system and take it up with the board of education since that’s who I called on them. Literally this is what the director told me when I called for a transfer. Oh is this the parent that threaten to contact the board on me, why she need my help, and again promoted his staff to hang up on me after telling me my child isn’t in his system. So this is what initiated me contacting an attorney. My review is just a heads up because most parents resort to what they can in the moment of time of things piling up. This place was my last resort being that they are closer to me and they have a smaller setting. I could have entered my child in public school but she’s non verbal and I’m going through speech therapy right now with her. So this was very heartbreaking, this school doesn’t give chances or have patients with students let along staff that knows how to redirect a child. I work with mentally challenged individuals in a live in setting. So I know the patience that’s required and I know how to redirect an adult as well as my child. So yes I feel like this facility lacks a few things within the staff. They do not show patience nor care nor do they show compassion to the student or parent. If your kids does bad on the first day trust me they will be calling for you to come get your child and to never return.

As a parent, I enrolled my son here with high hopes for his education and well-being. However, my experience at this school was far from satisfactory.

From the start, communication with the staff was lacking, and their inability to effectively manage my son’s behavioral issues was troubling. They weren’t very effective in addressing his behavioral challenges by redirecting, reinforcing positive behavior, or other various methods. My least favorite of the staff’s response was for them to request me to pick up my child.

I often felt a mix of frustration, annoyance, and self-doubt during the times when my son was acting out at school, prompting calls for me to come pick him up along with messages and incident reports through the parenting app almost daily. This repetitive cycle left me feeling confused as to why my son’s behavior at school was so different from his behavior at home. It was a challenging and disheartening experience, as I struggled to understand and address the underlying issues causing his disruptive behavior in the school environment.

One incident that particularly stands out is when I requested access to a video of my son’s behavior, only to be denied by the school administration. This lack of transparency and cooperation further added to my disappointment in the school’s practices.

While positive reviews may exist, I can’t help but feel that they are biased, a lot of 5 star reviews are coming from staff members themselves. On the other hand, negative reviews, like mine, I can relate to because they reflect the dissatisfaction of parents who have experienced similar issues.

Mr. Coleman, a prominent figure at the school, often struggled to listen and truly understand my perspective. He seemed to already have preconceived notions about situations and would not hesitate to interrupt or correct me mid-sentence based on his own assumptions. This lack of receptiveness and dismissive behavior made interactions with him unpleasant. While my initial interactions with him were tolerable, his demeanor deteriorated over time to the point where I actively avoided engaging with him. I sincerely hope to avoid any future dealings with him.

Ultimately, I made the decision to withdraw my child from here and enroll them in another pre-k school, where we have found the best experience in terms of education and care.

Since enrolling my son at his new school, I have not received a single phone call regarding his behavior. While his conduct may not be flawless, the school demonstrates a remarkable ability to manage his behavior effectively without needing to involve me. I receive daily behavioral reports detailing his areas of progress and areas needing improvement, providing me with valuable insights for further support. The school staff are approachable, understanding, and proactive in offering suggestions tailored to our needs. I have encountered no issues and harbor no complaints about our new pre-k experience. The decision to withdraw my son from Head of the Class after his first and only suspension turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

While the convenience of Head of the Class was a factor in my initial decision, the overall experience fell short of my expectations. I hope that my feedback will encourage the school to address these issues and improve their practices for the benefit of all students and parents.

These reviews had me fooled ! The positive reviews are done by the employees not the parents . Mr. Coleman the director made a false DFCS claim against me which caused my kids to be questioned about some non sense only days after dealing with the death of their father . Mr. Coleman is very disrespectful , rude , and unprofessional . He speaks to not only the parents but the staff with such aggression . He yells at everyone , the parents , the kids and the staff, especially Ms. Vicki . I have no clue why she’s still there the way he speaks to her . Speaking of which the turn over rate is very high , the teachers always leave because of how they are treated by Mr. Coleman. He suspends your kids for weeks at a time if you upset him in any way by bringing concerns to his attention. His kids are allowed to bully the other kids because the staff is afraid to say anything , my daughter has spoke of this often and when I spoke about this Mr. Coleman said I was targeting his kid . This man’s thinking is very unrealistic . The classrooms are out of ratio most times which makes it difficult for the kids to be properly monitored by the teachers. The only reason my kids stayed enrolled up until this point is because of the assistant director Yasmine is the one that’s there most times and she’s the complete opposite of Mr. Coleman . If you asked me she’s the one that should be running this center because Mr. Coleman runs everyone off and he’s going to run this center right into the ground . And don’t even bother reaching out to the owner Natasha because she stands behind him knowing he’s wrong . I just hate that my daughter will not be able to participate in her pre k graduation because of all of this . So to sum it all up don’t enroll your kids here unless you enjoy being spoken to like a child and you’re ok with a grown man yelling at your kid intimidating them .
