Today my students and I talked about being Dr. King people. We talked about using our words to help, not to harm. We talked about how hard that can be to do, and how we dont always get that right.
We talked about how hard it is to listen to a different point of view and consider it honestly. We apologized and we accepted apologies.
We talked about how Dr. King is a good model for these ideals. We also talked about how Jesus is the best model.
We closed the day with school-wide chapel time. We were encouraged with the chapel message that Gods love for us is abundant when weve acted wisely and Gods love for us is still abundant when weve acted badly, even when there are consequences. God is cheering us on to live more like Jesus every day.
We also took a spelling quiz, handed in weekly homework, read a play about Rosa Parks, shared about the climate articles we have read and learned some more division facts, and we laughed and danced to “Wipe-Out” which is our clean-up song.
I hope my students remember what we learn in our academic studies, but I also cannot wait to see the men and women they become. Im so excited to see God using them to heal our land and to build His Kingdom. I felt called to join this school when it began. Im thankful to continue working with my HLA family.
