My children have gone to HCA for fours and prior to yesterday I would have to say that I would rate this school as a five star but with what has happened recently I would have to say the I am now disappointed in this school. In four years I have never filed a complaint and I see the one time I did it was not taken seriously. Recent media has not made me happy but I still defended this school because it was not the staff. When the prior superintendent was in charge I never had any issues but today after my meeting with the new superintendent, I have to say my children will not be going back. In my opinion a teacher did not handle a situation appropriately and I went to the superintendent about my concerns this morning I became even more frustrated by the end of the conversation. First when I got to the school the superintendent was not present and he does not have a set schedule (according to staff), in my opinion a superintendent should be at the school during hours of operations. I waited for him and had to call into work late to meet with him, as though my time was not important. I left a message the day before saying I would be their at 8:00 AM and I was very upset.. I went in with my concern and he responded to me with “I see you have made up your mind already!” The professional way to handle this matter would have been “Thank you for bring this to my attention and I will check into this matter and get back to you by the end of the week.” No not this superintendent, he told me that he had made up this mind and was not going to do anything and basically made me feel like he could care less. He tried to tell me that the school protocol is to have students stand outside without supervision when a teacher is not present because the teacher is 15 minutes late to class as a result of a pepper rally. A pepper rally is an excuses to leave children standing outside in the heat and supervised. The teacher should have left the pepper rally or put a note on the door as to where the student needed to go. I am glad to know that my children safety is so unimportant to HCA. I have asked the school board to reach out to me and I really hope they do. I asked all three of my children what the protocol was for this situation and they all told me that they need to find a teacher because they could not be alone. Apparently there’s disconnect between the protocol that the student understand and the protocol the staff has. When two employee students went to find their mother instead of finding another teacher they did not get in trouble. Seem like a double standard and a superintendent that does not respect a parents who helps pay his salary. What a difference a superintendent a can make on a school.
Absolutely LOVE this school, having staff & teachers who truly care about the children, school , and families is so beautiful!
The education, having Our heavenly father along with amazing academics has been wonderful for my children!
We are so Thankful for the opportunity for HCA to be part of our family, It takes a village and I couldn’t imagine any other place for my children to learn & grow!
Thankful for all everyone does for the school… Thank you for all of your time & dedication.
Only thing I wish was that we could still walk our children to their classrooms 🙂
I also love the care they put into making sure the staff, teachers, and students are safe on campus!
Okay I’m going to stop, but we are SO HAPPY that we had been led to find your school.
