I went to take her ID to school and a folder she had forgotten at home in her other school bag after the long weekend.
I approached security and asked to goto the office. I was asked why and I explained to the female security I needed to drop off some items.
She said I couldn’t and I wasn’t allowed to the office for that. I asked her since when, that I’ve done it before. I’ve even waited on the bell to ring at times so my daughter could come in between classes to the front door where the security desk is at to retrieve her belongings.
Security said not with her and I said in fact its been with her and the male security that’s been there as well.
She continued to deny it so I asked to speak to the principal. I waited for about 20 minutes until Dr. Philippe Napoleon came to speak to me. He explained to me it was policy, so I asked to see where it was written down. He said it was sent in the papers at the beginning of the school year. So I again asked for the document, to which he replied it was the principals rule, Ms. Lisa Garcia.
I asked again to goto the office to have her called down to which at this time Dr. Philippe Napoleo said he would take it to have it given to her. As he stated he was doing me a favor by taking it to give it to her. I wasn’t happy that I was denied access to my child for something so simple.
As for their security they’re liars. If you were able to pull up surveillance video from the last few times I’ve gone, you would see me waiting for my daughter to come get her belongings from me at the security desk by the front door.
If this rule of not being able to drop off my child’s belongings has been a rule, where is the consistency?
I’d like to see this rule in writing that nothing can be dropped of to students once they are in school.
And as for denying me access to my child while being in school, I’ll take that up with WSVN7 Help Me Howard or any other news station to find out what my rights are as a parent.
P.s.
I did try to call the superintendent office first but was given a different number to speak to an advocate that wasn’t even in.
