The PTA do not disclose where the funds raised go, they add money onto school trips to raise money, for example the children were charged PS2.50 to walk from school to the local “free” 14 locks information centre and walk back? Why did they have to pay for something which didn’t require transport or entry?
Over the 7 years my step son has been at this school, we have paid around PS400-PS500 on trips, money for this and that which realistically should have been covered by the school.
Although they state in letters they ask for “voluntary contributions ” with a set price and “your child will not be treated any differently if you do not pay but if there is not enough money raised the trip will be cancelled” I decided on one occasion, no, we’ve paid a fortune over the years, it’s just before Christmas and after paying PS120 for a residential trip, I’m not paying PS15 for a crappy pantomime at a miners club and not volunteering on this occasion.
My wife received a phone call and had a mouthful of abuse from the school secretary as we didn’t pay on this occasion and my step son was sent home with an invoice for the PS15!
If it wasn’t his last year at the school, I would have pulled him out and put him into Rogerstone primary with my other children, at least they care about the children and parents there.
