I purchased an electric guitar and lessons from Guitar Center for my 9 year old but I found this business leaving a near by restaurant.. I didnt start at Guitar Center, I supported this business instead.. Worst mistake ever! Its 30 minute sessions, 3/4 of the time the instructor is on some off subject tangent!! 4/13/2022 he actually tried to teach my daughter to sing a song, I politely said please just give her guitar lessons, Im not paying for her to sing, in return he stated thats the way he teaches.. Sir, shes not here for singing lessons. I explained, she likes the guitar lessons but he wasnt hearing it. He then terminated the lesson.
We highly recommend Hillcrest School of Music. Mr. Darnell has been teaching our 10 year old son how to play guitar. Mr. Darnell is very professional, personable, and a very gifted teacher/musician. Our son has been taking lessons for right at one month, and he is already playing songs such as Amazing Grace, Ode to Joy, and Au Clair De La Lune very well. Our son is excited to see Mr. Darnell each week because he challenges him just right, but certainly praises his efforts and accomplishments too. We are so very pleased with Hillcrest and can’t wait to see how our son grows over the next few months.
I go here for drum lessons and love it. Darnell is a great instructor and I’ve picked up incredibly quick with his mad skills.
