I had a very disappointing visit today. This is my second time coming here because the first time was great. I understand that these are students and they are just learning, but the girl who worked on me today was not ready to be on the floor practicing on actual people yet. She did the initial trim but the instructor did all the layers because when she came to check, my student stylist basically told her that she’d rather watch. The hair length is shorter than I wanted but that wasn’t the worst part. The blow out was a disaster. The hair was wet at the roots when she was done. It was stringy and she tangled it in her brush multiple times. She clearly didn’t know the technique but at no point asked for help. The instructors was no where to be seen and wasn’t walking around like last time. I have attached 2 pictures… The first one in the car is from my last time there in May (blow dried, no other hot tools were used), and other one is from today. The standards for good work have dropped. I did tell her that I wasn’t happy with the blowout and she finally got another instructor. The instructor wanted to show her techniques with a straightener to fix the mess but I stopped the whole thing because she was going to fry my still damp hair with the straightener. The instructor disappeared with no conversation or even a teachable moment for her student.
You can’t beat the prices here but it’s definitely a risk that I am probably not going to be taking again.

I’m really glad I came to Hoss Lee Academy! My first phone experience with them was friendly and professional, and I got an appointment for the next day. I arrived a tiny bit early and was taken back right on time…no waiting at all! My student stylist was Anna, and I was impressed with her from the start. She understood what I wanted, verbalizing it back to me to make sure.
Mind you, I have been getting the same haircut for years and, to be honest, the cut Anna gave me was better than any of those. She even went above and beyond on the blowout, curling each bit of hair and making me look good! The instructors were positive and encouraging, which I liked.

Needless to say, I walked out a very happy customer and will be coming back for my next cut. Highly, highly recommend you try Hoss Lee Academy for yourself!
