Our son has had a wonderful experience at Hubbards. For him, the mainstream schooling system wasn’t a great fit. We found that he was much more suited to the Hubbards system, which in our view is more like university – he enrolled in a smaller number of subjects, which he engaged with intensively through longer lessons and in smaller classes, then sat the assessment at the end of the year. This meant that during the year, his focus was on learning, rather than assessment. He was well prepared for the end of year assessment because at Hubbards, the revision process is scaffolded and timetabled. Had he not passed a subject, it would not have been the end of the world…he could have taken the subject again the following year, while still moving his education forward by taking other new subjects on. As it turned out, he passed all his subjects (Physics, Maths B and English), having skipped year 10 and barely surviving a disastrous year 9! This year he is taking Biology, Maths A and Chemistry and he is looking forward to going to university in 2020. He has made some great friends at Hubbards and thouroughly enjoys going to school – he doesn’t miss uniforms, assemblies and the in-house extracurricular activities that he left behind at his former school, and is happier, having regained his academic and social self-confidence. We are very grateful that our son could access an alternative to the mainstream model and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. And a bonus, in our view, is that the teaching and learning is not technology-centric: some might say this is old-fashioned, but in our experience there are a lot less distractions and its easier for students to follow the curriculum/it’s less confusing.
Summer school 1 week $1800 my daughter learnt very little for year 12. Waste of time and money. Principle took 4 days to return my call too late to address anything at end of that week.
Fantastic school – a safe learning environment with great teachers and staff. The alternative we needed. Enabled my daughter to get back her love of learning.
A great learning environment, excellent teachers and an incredible two years.
Extremely disappointing…. I was after one teacher in this center when I talked to them than got a call back and given a day a n time with the person that I was after and next day got an email saying sorry we have to give you another tutor. I called and they told me if I am not happy can go somewhere else and she hanged up on me. Very very disappointing
