I went here in the late 90’s when it was called IEMS: Independence Enterprise Middle School & I loved it! Loved most of my teachers. Had a great experience, met some friends I still know today. One thing that bugged me was when our English teacher became the principal the following year (8th grade) she thought she was superior & could boss us around unfairly sometimes. Which was odd & disappointing because the year before that, she was a lovely teacher. Guess her true colors came out. Sounds like she may have changed or have some people fooled (no offense) but she told me I was no longer allowed to wear braided hair to school because it was a “distraction” to the other students.. Yet half the other kids were allowed to wear braided hair. So I still did it anyway. Oh and the year before she had told me it looked cute… So yeah that was bs. Otherwise, this is a wonderful school!
This is the best school ever!!!! My son has a skin disease and every student respects him because that is the first thing they are taught. The post below is shocking because my son absolutely got AWAY from bullying at Central Elementary, Putnam City Schools….. They are taught to respect their elders, respect their parents, visitors, teachers, and other students. My son has excelled and is only in the 7th grade and has his educational life planned! Ms. Baker MUST not retire until all of my kids get through. When I substitute teach, every child walks in and shakes my hand and addresses me. Volunteering has helped me get to know each and every one of the staff, I carpool, take kids to Academic team meets, work in the cafeteria….the kids and parents know me, you trust who your kids are with. These kids are happy!!!
Wonderful staff. Great learning atmosphere.
