DO NOT GO TO SCHOOL HERE. I went here for 9 months and advise anybody looking for a career in massage therapy, go anywhere else!! The owners only want students to perform cheap massage for them and their $$. When you are not even properly trained. They throw you in the room after 2 weeks. You have more time doing massages than you actually do in class. The teachers (while I was there) do not teach you how to pass the MBLEX. Which is what you need in order to get a license. They have like 30%-40% passing rate on that test. It’s because they only care about money and not you as in individual. That’s not what massage is about. It’s disheartening to see, people not even want to pursue massage therapy after going to school here. Save your money. They’ve taken advantage of too many students already.
The young man who answers the phone and receives guests at the front doesn’t know what he’s doing. I called in to get last minute appt and he told me there was a 30 minute massage available even though I’d be 5 minutes late. I got there like I said, filled out the paperwork and he disappeared to reappear and quietly sit at the desk. I waited and then asked if anyone would be giving me a massage and he said I’d only get 15 minutes? He seemed cognitively confused throughout. I told him I’d go ahead and leave and calmly walked out the door with my paperwork. Very strange experience. I won’t try again.
The instructors are always available and willing to provide information and answer questions, one on one or in a small group. Not to mention, they allow students to work on their own technique on clients, rather than just reading about it in books. The experience gained working on clients is irreplaceable. I am happy I decided to attend this school, and I look forward to working with them in the future. One other thing, as a customer, I would prefer a MT with good technique and personal skills to one who just “knows the book”….this school provides the opportunity to work on both!
