My son graduated from this school in 2015. He was never happy with any of the staff. Teachers were only concerned about getting a paycheck. I now have a daughter entering the 9th grade and REALLY am torn about making her go there versus a charter school or even home schooling. Upon reading the last few comments about this Tay k,( who apparently is awaiting trial for murder?) makes it even more worrisome. I knew gangster stuff was goin on there, but was not aware of the extent. My son completed 12th grade by the skin of his teeth and now is a full time college student. I do not credit Martin for his accomplishments because I believe it was his hard work and determination to finish with the help of us (the parents) and Venture high school…
I graduated MHS in 2006. I enjoyed my high school years and would not have chosen to go to any other high school. I’m sure things have changed, but during the 4 years I attended Martin, it was known as the top high school in the area and highly recognized statewide. The high school has an array of extra curricular programs to offer, leading towards diversified, well-rounded students. Of course there were the occasional “bad examples” among the student population, but as a whole, the student body was constructed of fine and friendly peers. I am so proud of my education within the Arlington/Martin school district, that I intend of having my children grow up to attend the same schools I did.
Me and my younger sister had moved to Texas, and I soon as I walked into this building I was never so disappointed in the administration and staff. My sister and I were downgraded just because we weren’t from there. My sister and I are both athletes and played basketball, volleyball, track, soccer etc… at our previous school and for both of us to be denied or not even given playing time is really messed up. We are both Hispanic and I can definitely tell you I had the most racist teachers and a few of my other Hispanic friends that go there say the same. So many fights so imagine the friend making part, had to defend me and my sister more than once it’s ridiculous.
