I still remember going to Japhet for Junior Preschool, Senior Preschool, and Junior Kindergarten from 1991-1994. It is still a running joke in my family that I used the word “nocturnal” correctly in a sentence at the age of 4. I also knew about and appreciated Mozart, and who Marie Antoinette was, from the Spring Sharing production that year, which I still remember. That is the value of a Japhet education, even for its youngest students. I remember the emphasis on moral character, and learning about plants and animals, as well as letters and numbers, and even some history and culture, all before entering Kindergarten. By the time I started regular Kindergarten in public school, I already had a strong educational foundation and was way ahead of my peers. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from public high school, received a full ride to the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, went on to earn two Master’s degrees in graduate school, and now work as a member of the faculty at a prestigious university. I credit Japhet for giving me a solid foundation from which to build my education and character. Thank you!
