The absolute DISRESPECT of the Safety Coordinator of this school is appalling.
I don’t care that you’ve worked there for 6 years. My husband almost died in front of your school yesterday due to the parents of the students ATTENDING THIS INSTITUTION. Regardless if you want to care or not, this facility is responsible for the deplorable traffic conditions in front, on City property.

The way that the Safety Coordinator of this school spoke to me was absolutely disrespectful. I have never been spoken to with such crass in my life, especially regarding the safety of the minors who attend the school, who you guys are again responsible for!!!

In 2009, a kindergartener was hit at Smythe Academy of Arts and Sciences while I was a 5th grade student. He was dragged across the parking lot, and died. I heard everything from my classroom, as it was right next to the drop-off zone off oof Northgate Blvd. I heard the tires screech, the screams, and finally my school went on lockdown.

For you to say that it’s “dramatic” (VERBATIM SINCE YOU WANT TO DENY IT!) of me to say that a child WILL get hurt, is so insensitive to all the parents and students who attend this school. Someone WILL get in a bad accident, seeing as on more than one occasion within a month I’ve seen parents drive against traffic to try to get in the pickup line faster.

Every single day, your facility is responsible for thousands of dollars worth of fines, due to the lines that go all the way down harding into galleria, as well as Lead Hill. Every single day, I will call Roseville PD and file a complaint about this ridiculous traffic until you guys actually DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

DO BETTER. CARE ABOUT YOUR STUDENTS. CARE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF YOUR STUDENTS!!!!!!

Student since the first year here! I have attended the school since fourth grade. I am now a Senior. I can honestly say that I love this school. The teachers are amazing (with a few exceptions, as with any school). They are honestly great people and take the time to get to know you personally. They will stop and ask how you are doing in the halls, make sure you don’t need help on homework, and genuinely want to learn from the scholars as well as teach. The staff is friendly and helpful, and most of the scholars are nice and studious (we don’t have bullying problems or much swearing because the majority of scholars are religious [LDS and Catholic are the two big ones]) Sadly, the administration is not as good, having a tendency toward unpreparedness and inconsistency. This is probably not the school for you if you don’t enjoy a rigorous education. There are often philosophical discussions, debates, and socratic discussions, even in classes such as math and science. We don’t have a great sports program unfortunately. However, we have great music and art program and plenty of things to do if you are interested in debate, philosophy and a classic education. I highly recommend checking out the library.
Overall my family has been happy with the education and experience our children have received as JAA scholars. We’ve been with the school since it opened and have witnessed many challenges and successes. I struggled at first making the move as I wasn’t sure how my kids would respond to the transition from a public school to a charter, but I am very happy with the results. The classical education experience has been challenging, but has rewarded my kids with a well rounded approach to learning and thinking. The foundation of servant leadership and ten core values have helped guide choices and actions and given the scholars a high ceiling to strive for.

We’ve loved the different instructors and mentors the kids have had spent time with. The teachers are extremely hard working and many of them highly qualified in their respective subjects. Overall we’ve enjoyed the open communication with the staff and administrators. We spend a good amount of time volunteering and taking an active role at the school, which has allowed us see first hand how much the folks we’ve been involved with love and enjoy our kids.
