100% would not recommend. This school cares nothing about the kids health, nor their stress levels. The teachers talk with enthusiastic voices and try to uplift the kids like it isn’t them in the first place causing this stress.

They have the nerve to smile in the kids faces after assigning a bunch of homework as if the kids don’t have other classes to take care of aswell. Please don’t give me the “Time management.” BS. These kids need a break for once. Now don’t get me wrong, there are some good teachers who truly care for these students. stress.
Mr. Gouch, Ms. Sloan, and Ms. Sun are all great teachers. Gouch in particular. He actually looks at the kids in eyes and see’s that they are stressed, so he goes easy on them with the homework, he also tells a few jokes at some point. BECAUSE HE WANTS TO SEE THE KIDS SMILE! Unlike other teachers (Who I won’t name.) Who care nothing about any of that stuff. They throw the work and knowledge at you and force you to throw it up on a 40 question test. I get that this is a top notch school, but jesus christ, not every kid who goes to that school is a natural born straight A student.

I am not down-playing all of John Hay, only this school in specific. I’ve known kids who were EXCEPTIONAL in middle school, they were bright, and always had a smile on their faces. A year in John Hay Early College broke them, A YEAR, A SINGLE YEAR AT THIS SCHOOL WILL BREAK THE BRIGHTEST STUDENTS. For me personally, it has become nearly impossible to smile. I cannot continue with the “If your not smart enough, than you WONT do good here, and we WONT treat you like a human being.”

I could go on forever, countless nights where I wanted to cry because this school made me feel dumb, and idiotic, because I couldn’t get the grade I needed to get on my test. BECAUSE I DIDNT THROW UP THE KNOWLEDGE THEY PILLED UP ON ME!

I really hope some of you consider this when applying for John Hay Early College. Thank you, goodbye.

I go to John Hay early college and let me tell you I DO NOT RECCOMEND IT AT ALL!!!!! I am a freshman and the start of the year was VERY rocky academic wise. These teachers expect you to come to this school and automatically get used to pounds of work . It would be nice if when you are a freshman they start you off with a little bit of work and then ease you into all of that work. Now let me say there are a few good teachers at this school. The french teacher mrs backuche is very sweet and understanding. Mr gouch is the best teacher on the floor ,he tries to understand us and he treats us with respect. Mr E is the worst freshman teacher we have. since the beginning of the year he has been giving us math homework assignments with 100 questions or more on delta math. Do you know how overwhelming that is PLUS YOUR OTHER WORK. and algebra is not and easy subject. He also likes to tell half truths when you are in trouble. Mrs Parker is also something. She talks to the students very reckless at times. And the principal OMG the principal. If you are having an issue with drama and you come to her she will put all the blame on you and barley listen to you and MULTIPLE students have said this. And once she doesnt like you she comes for you. She has suspended me and other students she does not like for things as simple as laughing in class THATS BARELY DETENTION WORTHY. and i have wayyy more another review is coming soon. I WISH I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS. oh and also she is trying to expell students for drama but there is someone who SOLD WEED IN SCHOOL and got 10 days . a girl went to the hospital because of what he gave her! 0/100 principal !
I have a 18 year old daughter that attended John Hay AD. She graduated last year and recently went to their home basketball game. During that time she wanted to speak to some of her old teachers. One in particular Mr Kinuk asked my daughter what college she attended, and she told him she was going ro tri-c. This ignorant supposed to be a teacher who should encourage, actually laughed at my daughter.I don’t understand a teacher who would treat someone like that.If my daughter was still there best believe I would have been up there, But just a message teachers encourage not discourage..Shame on you.
