Just Like Mom’s Pre-school and Kindergarten, Los Angeles | Fees, Rankings, Address, Admission, Vacancies, Reviews & More

Pathways LA, as well as my personal acquaintance, whose child previously attended this school referred me here and described them as “wonderful”. I decided to check it out, since this is the closest care center to the hospital where I work at.

To start off: the initial visit, where i went by myself to check out the care center, went well and I felt pretty good about it. Overall the place looked clean, it’s located close to my job, the children all seemed nice, well taken of and happy. Also, the teachers are very nice, thoughtful and caring ladies, especially Miss Becky. (side note: big thank you for being kind and playing with my child).

However, today I took my child here with me so she could meet the owner/teachers and they could meet her, to see if it was a good fit. The visit went well, at first, as I said the teachers and children are very nice.
But I left with tears of frustration in my eyes, because i felt like nobody has EVER dared to disrespect me or my child like this. The owner of the daycare was absolutely NASTY towards my child, 3 year old toddler by the way.
I’m Georgian, who speaks my native language, as well as Russian. The father of my child speaks English. We’ve been teaching my child Russian and English, putting my native language on back burner for now, so she has better chance at learning two languages at once. My child has minor issues with her hearing, but nothing that her team of teachers at her preschool assessment considered to be “a learning disability” or nothing her psychiatrist was concerned with. However, the owner said she doesn’t think my child needs to learn/speak Russian because “children like her need to focus on one language, a simple one like english” in a condescending tone. My kid understands both languages perfectly fine and has a rich vocabulary for both, for a TODDLER.

She (the owner) diagnosed my kid with autism, for following reasons;
1. while touring the care center, my child got “too excited” when the music during dance class was played.
2. my child did not want to look in the owner’s eyes.
3. my child is potty trained but wears pull ups during nap time to avoid accidents in her sleep.
4. my child was too excited about a toy (dinosaur from Toy Story movie) that she recognized.

My child had an assessment and evaluation done by PROFESSIONAL child psychiatrist, and the actual professional determined that my child was NOT autistic. **Not that there’s anything wrong with having a kid with autism – it’s not.**

Anyways, that whole experienced described above rubbed me the wrong way. I shared with my friend and she was appalled. However, i also shared this in mom’s group on facebook and they were not surprised, at all. Most of them described the owner as “rude” at best and a, well, i can’t say or else my review will get taken down, at worst!

If I could give this school 0 stars, I would.

This business is beyond rude and unprofessional. Business puts notes on vehicles threatening to have them towed off the public street to try to keep parking access for the school. Ms Becky Lawrence is the school administrator who is persistently harassing guest.
