I had a great visit to Keune Academy! I brought a child with natural hair for a silk press and since I knew her hair would take some time, I had my hair shampooed and flat ironed while I waited. It’s not a black hair school and I went with understanding and expectations that the students weren’t experienced with our hair textures and that the availability of products would be minimal in comparison to what I’m use to. Despite students not being familiar with the handling of our texture, it was apparent that they understood it from their studies and put in commendable efforts to put what they learned into practice. With multiple instructors overseeing their work and offering guidance, it was a reassuring experience. Logically, a 5 star at a hair school is not the same as a 5 star salon experience however with the proper expectations and patience, I feel 5 stars is accurate. I would recommend and will return for simple hair care needs. My experience with Joanna and Mackenzie as well as my observation of the other students let me see that they have been prepared to take on clients to further their experience. The atmosphere exudes positivity, and it’s evident that the students genuinely enjoy their time at the school. Keune Academy deserves high praise for their dedication and cheerful environment!

An okay experience. I was looking to save money, and I definitely did. I usually pay twice as much for a root touch up and glaze. However, she definitely over processed my roots, and there’s a clear difference in color between that red on my roots and the rest of my hair. While I was getting it done, the instructor even noticed the student was leaving me too long with bleach and had to go get her. Yet she didn’t help the student correct the mistake after that. It also took a lot longer than it does normally. It took about 3 hours to do the root touch up and glaze. If you’re looking to save, I think this is still a good place to go. I think I just got unlucky. Definitely looks cheap. I have a business trip this week, so I’m going to have to last minute find someone to fix this. The instructor said it looked great before I left, so I just didn’t say anything about being unsatisfied if she couldn’t even tell the work was bad. Ugh it looks so cheap; I’m so sad 🙁

Reply to owner: I’m going out of town tomorrow, and I’m also pretty sure Paige is the one who said it looked good. If that is what your instructors think looks good, I really don’t want to go back unless it’s for a refund. Also, since writing my original review, I noticed the side of my face has a bleach burn 🙁
