I use to attend this school and decided to not graduate and drop out of this school, due to the experience that I have had in this school which is terrible and disgusting!

There was one time where I was put in a math’s class and I remember asking questions about an assessment to the teacher that was taking the class. This teach made a comment that upset me which caused for me to leave the school.
This teacher was not happy that I had asked multiple questions and had called me “stupid/dumb” in-front of the whole math class. (Is not the reason teachers exist? to answer students questions and help with their learning if not understood? like I don’t know why you got the job if your not willing to help. so she ended up kicking me out of the class and had me failing my math assessment)

I also had 5 siblings whom attended this school and have recently changed schools due to ongoing issues at this school.

This school has been divided into 3 ethnic groups: Samoan Unit, Maori Unit and Tongan Unit. I personally believe that because of the way they have chosen to have these groups instead of having it mixed is the reason why Units are often fighting against each other.

This school states that their philosophy is based on “WHANAUNGATANGA” meaning “FAMILY” which I have never seen before during my years in this school.

One issue that occurred in this school at around February 2024 where a student came into the school grounds with a knife and threatened a life of a student whom is my brother (Samoan Unit).

The principle had excluded this student (Maori Unit), however, I don’t know why the school didn’t contact the Police in the first instinct which is frustrating which resulted for my siblings to call me to pick them up as they feel unsafe due to the incident.

I had gone to the school on that day to pick up my siblings and found out about the incident 2 hours later and was very unhappy about it as Police were never contacted. My brother had a big scar on the side of his neck due to the knife that was bought in by this student from the Maori Unit.

My siblings had advised that the they had a discussion with the principal and had dismissed them to go to class afterwards with no further action taken besides the principal excluding that student whom turned into the school grounds with a knife.

I had complained to the principal on the same day regarding this incident and had to get my parents to speak to the principal also whom seemed to not even care about our opinions!

I made contact with the Police whom also stated it was weird for the school to not contact Police about the incident. I have made a Police report regarding the incident which is now being investigated at this stage.

This school system is disgusting! I would not recommend and whanau especially Pacifica to attend this school as I personally think that it is very racist as the way I see it is the Principal is always standing on sides, never stands in between but most likely stands for the Maori Unit and not Pacifica students.

I recently heard that the student whom had been excluded has been allowed to come back to school which I find very unfair! and hoping this is not true.

Why create Pacific ethnic groups if this is the case? just wanting more students in the school but not treating things fair? Disgusting and Terrible Kia Aroha Campus. I just hope & pray that this school gets closed!

If you want your child to learn & be safe then this isn’t the school for them. I’ve always believed in that it isn’t about the school its about the child until my son started Yr 7 here he went from a happy kid that excelled academically to someone that refused to go to school, wagged & was just unhappy.
The school policy is ridiculous yes I was disappointed at my son for wagging & he got punished for that but where was my text/call to notify me that my child wasn’t at school? I always let them know when he is absent so why wasn’t I made aware? This plus bullying I contacted the school & had a meeting with a teacher. I was told they only notify parents if it’s a pattern or 3 times in a row. Dont even try & deny it cos I have a recording of that meeting. This isn’t right by any means you say all the right things on your school website but your actions DO NOT reflect this AT ALL.
My son lasted 2 terms & I moved him to Hillary which is ALOT better & he is alot happier now.
Put some focus on your PI kids cos from where I stand those kids are neglected & your main focus is with the Maori kids. Have teachers on duty to avoid kids being bullied if other schools can do it so should you & throughout this year there were so many other bullied cases that were on social media I’m very surprised you got approved for a collegiate maybe it’s because you turn a blind eye & just sweep things under the carpet. Take ownership of what happens within your school instead of closing the comments section on your fb page & saying “it’s not your responsibility” (referring to the tongan girl that got beat up post).
Kia Aroha Campus DO BETTER for your existing & new students/families.
You don’t even deserve the 1 star but this needs to be posted for awareness.
You have a video of a bully punching another student in the face!! Saying why’d you snitch and repeatedly punching her as one is recording and other students just looking until a teacher or a care taker stepped in and stopped it !! The girl was crying her tears being terrified. The comments online complaining on how staff members at this school has been useless not being able to do their job properly cause the amount of bully that has been going on for years !! Your school is meant to be a safe zone other than just a good education on all students !! That video is disgusting and if you staff members can’t address this kind of behaviour then hopefully it reaches to the point the school gets shut down !!!
You must not care about your Pasifika students, bcos you let them beat up each other especially Sisi Hufanga and her friends. Sisi Hufanga (from Lapaha) should face consequences for her actions
My daughter went here til she started getting bullied. I confronted the school but nothing ever came of it. I changed schools & now she’s a lot happier. Zero stars for this joke of a school.
