I brought my son to Kipp because I thought this school was highly qualified at handling bullies, I was absolutly wrong. My sons classmates have been bullying him since school started. Not an everyday thing but a once a week issue. What’s worse is that its not only the students but one teacher in specific as well.
The teacher I’m speaking of draws questions on how she handles issues on bullying. She’s contributed to the behavior by discussing issues that take place between the students infront of the other students allowing the students to get involved by adding redicule and humiliation. Instead of keeping issues private and pull the child aside to discuss the issue in private she does in front of the whole class and allows the students to call out names at the child. A big no no. Issues should be taken care of respecting the student and not allowing the laughing and name calling. Furthermore, questions as to the qualification of the teacher draws concern.
As for their after school pick up, it’s not organized and lacks proper communication. Furthermore, my son has gotten hit in the back and on his butt by two girls in specific and nothing was done about it. When is it ok for a girl to be hitting a boy in school?? If my son hits a girl it’s a big issue, so they are not treated farely when it comes to the no touching.
I recommend you really only send your child here if you absolutly have no choice. I look forward to changing schools but I wanted to share my experiences. If i had read the reviews first, I would’ve placed my son in a different school.
