KOR is rigorous, fun, has loving teachers and friendly students. It is exactly what we were looking for and more! Now I don’t have to run around getting my kids exposed to the extras: Spanish starts in Kinder, has amazingly hard Singapore Math (with teachers who know how to teach it!), and I am impressed with how early you can start teaching how to write research papers! Small class sizes help students gain valuable presentation and public speaking skills and labs in science are completely hands on! I am also excited about high school. The average standardized scores are fantastic! I am thrilled to find the school that guides my children to become successful, lifetime learners and to enjoy it!
From my experience in KOR, it was not the best school. It was expensive, had ineffective teaching (due to a bad curriculum structure), limited/no good usable technology, and limited opportunities, such as no student electives and/or sports, that made it not worth the tuition price. There was a copious amount homework that didn’t really help students understand the material (which stems from the bad curriculum structure and ineffective teaching) and only adds upon the stress students already face in-class.
