If your child is in special education PLEASE do not send your child here. We removed our child when they locked him in a Seclusion Room, which they will tell you they don’t have, refused to follow his IEP, refused to listen to pleas of not teaching down to him and giving him the exact same work daily that he had since kindergarten. We filed a complaint with the MDE that did find this school in violation of State and Federal Law for using a unregistered Seclusion Room in a non-emergency situation and failed to inform us when it was used. Also in Violation of using restraints in a non-emergency situation, not abiding by his IEP, and denying our son to a Free and Appropriate Education.
It has come to light that this school uses solitary confinement to manage kids with special needs. This is a direct violation of the rights and liberties of these kids and all involved need to be removed from the school and prosecuted! It is cruel and unusual punishment to send a child into this type of room and anyone who can justify such a action should probably see a certified therapist.
I’m not satisfied with how the teachers won’t take time to have a conversation with the parents about their children. They have a cold personality when asked any questions and try to rush the conversation. Also not pleased with how they make children wait outside in front of the school with no teacher or some form of adult to make sure the children don’t wander away.
