We’re new to the school this year. I was originally nervous because we were school choicing someplace else before and if this didn’t work out we might not be able to get back into the same school. But we took the leap and haven’t looked back.
LCCA has a lot of material on their website about a classical education and what they are about. I feel like all of it was as described. I was concerned about the homework load, especially for my 3rd grader with ADHD but it’s been completely manageable. We’ll see later in the year though! The teachers are kind and are interested in the success of each child. There is an expectation of accountability for each child in a healthy way – one that inspires them.
The parent community is fantastic. Everyone is highly invested in their child’s education, and that includes getting to know the other parents. I love that the class sizes will remain small and that I’ll know the parents especially when my kids get older. The parents are extremely invested in the school’s success and it’s awesome to be part of a community like this.
I love the focus on the virtues in the school. They truly are focusing on building character and resilience. Morning assembly is a sight to behold. I wish they live streamed it – I want to attend too!
Logistics. I don’t love that there isn’t a bus and that there are 2 campuses. Those are things that hopefully will get resolved in years to come… selfishly I hope its before I start needing to drive to 2 campuses. BUT because everyone is in the same boat people are really willing to help each other out. We have our kids go to aftercare (at tree of life) and it’s very affordable. The car line at East (k-6th) is pretty efficient too.
My daughter has an IEP for speech and the school is able to support that. I wouldn’t let an IEP stop you from considering LCCA (from my understanding of it).
Make sure to pay attention in January for enrollment information! It’s before the open enrollment timeline so it comes up fast!
I’d highly recommend LCCA to anyone who believes in a classical education (especially without technology I’m the classroom). We ?? our school!
