The educators are not certified or licensed teachers, and the school remains unaccredited by any accrediting body after 25 years in business. Great community building, especially for Vegas. But this is a business and not an educational institution. Their curriculum is strictly Abeka – which is a homeschool curriculum heavy on a repetitive worksheet culture designed expressly for auditory learners. They do not deviate the curriculum for individual learning styles. If your child learns in any other way, they will struggle here. There are no emerging evidence-based education models used. The building itself lacks the warmth and vibrancy needed in a child’s early learning environment. It’s gray cinder block and cement floors and walls with rarely a window are more indicative of “jail,” the word used by a student. They are very friendly, inviting people, in particular the current administrators who are well aware of the problem. That makes for a great church environment. It is quite a poor experience as an elementary school.
I do not recommend this school for anyone with a child that has gone through trauma or struggles socially or behaviorally. The administration is not equipped to help you or your child but would rather dismiss you both to protect their reputation instead of seeking understanding. I attended LMCA from K4 until graduation and as disappointing as this sounds, it has not changed a bit, no spiritual growth.
Excellent school. We love the smaller classes (15-18 students) and qualified teachers (unlike GV). They are professional and do a great job. Leaving GV was the best thing that could have happened, but more importantly, our son loves it and has made some great friends. Keep up the good work.
