It used to be a great school but now, after the principal has changed from wonderful Mr Hansen, who got promoted, to excessively disciplinarian, with mood swings, Ms Elan, it is no longer the school we are looking forward to participating in. The atmosphere is more tense and unfriendly and my son is not looking forward to going to school. New principal even changed school mascot from wise and brave lion to what kids call “hyena” – a little cub looking scared and confused. Teachers are still great and parents participation is large. Lanai has a great art program run by parents.
Lanai Elementary School is one of the greatest schools. They have wonderful and dedicated teachers, a clean campus, and parents who care to volunteer countless hours during the school year. One of Lanai’s beloved teachers is Mrs. Fulford, who was my son’s 2nd and 3rd grade teacher. She is not only an amazing teacher, but also a patient and nurturing one. She instilled a love of reading and writing, which is so important for youngsters these days. Thank you Mrs. Fulford!
