My Daughter goes to this school and has done leaps and bounds. She is striving to success with the help of the staff and the Administration. Under the Leadership of Dr.Callins the school has done a 360. The former owner and operator was never hardly there and was only around when the Malay checks came in. She tried 4 times to have the school go from a private school to a charter without any success. The new principal did it once and had to make a few tweaks and they gave it to her. And as far as letting the therapist contract go it is Owned and operates under the old owner of the private school. And the contract was up for renewal and in the end she pulled the contract and her team. I know some people aren’t happy and I know there are parents that see no wrong under the old owners direction but they can be happy with her at her new adventures how ever long it last. But with that being said I am looking forward to the new direction the school is headed. And along with the new in house Therapist So that they are truly all inclusive with the students and school and want have to focus on other schools or clients. And looking forward to a lot of the new staff and services they have got coming. I also would completely encourage you enroll you child with the school and know that they will get the best top service available in the area. Also the Guidance specialist is amazing and makes sure your child’s IEP has every service added that is deemed to help your child. And the new janitorial staff goes above and beyond making sure the school is always looking its very best. The front office staff and school nurse goes above and beyond making sure of all your child’s safety and medical needs are took care of.
My daughter attended 2018-2019 school year. No equipment was ever purchased for the supportive (total care/medically needy class) even though it was promised. Administration makes decisions in the dark ( secret) to maintain power over parents; not leaving room for choice or decision sharing in care. The principal hand picked the board to guarantee they back EVERY decision SHE makes. The school staff/administration is 90% African American & does not promote diversity AT ALL.

The principal ended a long standing contract with a therapy team who had been treating many of the students for 10+ years. She made this decision alone & blind-sided the parents.

There have been countless claims of abuse witnessed by parent volunteers.

The school nurse is worthless.

The education portion of my daughter’s IEP was not followed. I had to hire a lawyer.

Beware if you make the mistake of enrolling your child.

This will be Xavier’s 3rd year in LLAL. We are proud to be a family at LLAL. Dr. Callins is a good role model. She is has a good supportive Asst. Principal, Sheenah Adams, along with the other supportive staff, teachers, the paras, and the non teaching staff.A special thank you to our wonderful PTO President Myiouri Bowman who has taken on this role without any Board Members. She is hard working, helpful, devoted, and supportive of the school staff. Hopefully Myiouri will have more Board Members this year. Everyone is helpful with the students and families. Xavier is doing very well at this school, they care about the success of their students.
