Two women at my church asked me about these reviews, and I decided to address them from my perspective as a teacher at L.E.A.D. I do not know the reviewers or the specifics of their reviews.

I do know that any form of unkind or hurtful behavior toward a student is not tolerated! Not only do our administrators and teachers react swiftly to any situation they are aware of, they proactively implement procedures to reduce the opportunity for bullying and create a culture that encourages positive interactions between students. On the other hand, I have observed parents who attempt to intimidate and bully administrators for enforcing stated policies and disciplining students.

Our administration is passionate about our students and works harder than any school administration I’ve ever known. Mr. Lay has been in education 50 years. He’s retired from public schools and does not “need” this job. His love for serving students and their parents shines through every day in every decision he makes. He’s an inspiration to all of us who serve God alongside him. This hard-working, 73-year-old leader is at the school bright and early before teachers every morning to ensure this school is operating in a way that is a blessing to students and parents. No job is too little or too big for him. I’ve known administrators and teachers at other schools doing as little as they can until they get their years to retire. No one is doing that at L.E.A.D. To the contrary, our Head of School has come out of retirement to serve families! I’ve never seen a school’s entire administration daily go extra mile after extra mile to help students and parents. They love our students and do their best to give them every advantage.

As far as money goes, private K-12 education is not where anyone goes to make money. There are a lot easier ways to make money than to deal with the heavy responsibility and extraordinary and time-consuming challenges of leading any school, but especially a private school where administrators have to work to raise capital funds. Having been in a public school for 11 years and understanding the general funding of public schools, I am amazed at how God multiplies the two fish and five loaves for L.E.A.D. every year. I understand the challenge of paying private school tuition is real, yet L.E.A.D. tuition is low compared to other private schools and far below the FTE funding per student public schools receive. Public schools also have the Department of Education to send extra dollars for new buildings, capital outlays, transportation, etc.. No county supplements, half-cent sales taxes, lottery dollars, etc. exist for L.E.A.D. God’s blessing through donors and the frugal use of funds have enabled the physical growth of the campus and student body.

Eating outside with the students is one of my favorite parts of the day, and many students feel the same way. The parent who complained about students eating outside should research the enormous advantages for mood, focus, and overall physical and mental health of being in the sun. My students are more focused in class after lunch, p.e. and agriculture science, where they also are outside.

If you’re looking for a school where the hearts and efforts of the administration are to provide Biblically-based instruction, a positive Christian environment, a challenging and integrated curriculum, and where teachers care deeply about their students, prayerfully consider L.E.A.D. If my grandchildren lived in the area, I would want them to attend L.E.A.D. for academic and spiritual instruction.

We whole heartedly embraced thus school. To the point we donated money to the cause above and beyond tuition.
Boy we’re we disappointed.
The teachers as a whole were lackluster but were the bright spot compared to the administration. When my child was continually being bullied the school refused to speak to us or address the problem. The staff consist of Frank Lays family that shouldn’t ever be in charge of children. They single out and berate children to the point they are Miserable.
It got so bad, the school locked my wife out of seeing our child’s grades online. Petty display of control.
I implore anyone considering this school to proceed with caution. The education is sub par and in conjunction with the administration is completely unacceptable.
One of the admin daughters (KL) is a complete bully and gets off on treating parents and children like inmates instead of people. Even hid from my wife in one occasion b/c she did not want to be questioned about an incident.
Do yourself and your child a favor and look elsewhere. They do not care about you or your child. Only $$ and once they’ve gotten that, that are done with you.
They should be ashamed billing it as a “Christian “ school. Hypocrites is more like it.
If I didn’t have to give this school one star I wouldn’t. First I would like to say BE YOUR KIDS/GRANDKIDS VOICE! This school has been nothing but pure misery for my family. Thankfully I have a daughter who does not let anyone bully or intimidate her when it comes to her children/my grandchildren This school does nothing about bullying because the staff and admin do bullying theirselves. They take scholarship money and there is nothing they can provide parents with that shows what they have done with the funds. They don’t want to address any problems with parents and when parents speak up for their children as my daughter did they kick your children out of school. As Christians you are suppose to love and as a school as well they should want the best education for your children and protect them as well. This is very disturbing to learn what this school is all about. I would not recommend this school for anyone to put their children/grandchildren in. And if you do be careful. Talk to your children and see if they have had any problems at school if you have a scholarship watch and take notes of where the money is going to. You would be surprised and shocked at what you might find out.
