The teachers we have had at Leafspring have been wonderful. They have been nurturing, loving, patient, creative, kind, & engaging with our kids. Our kids have grown under their care. I am grateful to these teachers who were our childrens’ first so that we could work with peace.

The critical things Leafspring needs to improve:

Enrollees are told that if they post negative commentary on social media/platforms, they will face termination of enrollment. Therefore, there are hardly any real reviews. Administrators troll the local Facebook mom & community groups obsessively. If the administrators get wind that parents have private group chats, there are consequences. Meanwhile, the school does not respond to concerns raised in its annual survey.

The school does not track its fobs. We’ve had two children depart the schools. As part of exit procedures, shouldn’t the school collect the entry from the parents? They don’t. Perhaps it could be said that the school automatically cancels out a families access. I’d like to trust this, but my older daughter’s fob continued to work years past her departure. Additionally, there was a recurring issue with the main door not locking for months. I complained about it to the coordinator for over four months. Anybody could walk in. I’ll repeat, there were months that anybody could have walked in. That was an issue that should have been addressed within 24 hours; until that time, a person should have beens staffed at the door.

Every single time we faced a major issue at Leafspring, we clearly & respectfully communicated with those responsible. Unfortunately, the administration lacked professionalism, responsibility and organization.
Example- our daughter was not picked up for Leafspring afterschool three times before we pulled her out of the program. We did our due diligence to investigate both LS and our elementary schools’ procedures and communication; we conclusively determined that Leafspring was at fault due to their lists being incorrect (I saw them). We were disappointed in the way the afterschool administrator at Leafspring lacked professionalism, responsibility, action, & common sense in something as critical as ensuring the whereabouts of a child.

Example- we’ve been mischarged many times. I urge families with automatic payment to check their bills with a careful eye. It’s never been in our favor, of course.

Wellness Center – I cannot name a single parent who has ever been able to actually use it. LS still pretends (to current and prospective families) that it is available Monday through Friday, but in actuality, there is only a nurse staffed on Fridays. Families should have been alerted, but they weren’t, our charges stayed the same.

Retention – Like many daycares, Leafspring is experiencing difficulties with retention & hiring. We had six teachers (lead & assistants included) and half of them are now working elsewhere.

I registered my son here for after school care for several reasons. The most important ones were their facility and program. Top notch! Excellent! My son loves the various activities, loves their play yard and area for him to relax after the school day, and I can’t forget to mention the gym, where he can play sports after school. And I love that they ensure his homework is done while in after school care. It helps this working mom a ton, so I can review his work and enjoy some quality time with him after work! They are flexible and supportive! I had a medical emergency situation I was dealing with, and on a day I did not have my son scheduled for pick-up from school, I was able to call them last minute, and they ensured my son was picked up and cared for when I couldn’t be there! We love LeafSpring! Thank you Melissa!
