I got my private pilot check ride in Northern California in November of 2016. I immediately moved to Prescott and started renting from “Brand X” from December til June of 2017 (6 months) I won’t mention the company by name, but it was a very sad experience. Then in July of 2017 my angel, Lance Leighnor moved into the hanger next to me with his one C-162. I immediately could tell he was a great guy. I joined his flying club and signed up for a block of 20 hours. Over the next 6 months I had 4 lessons with Ed Kalabus (a wonderful instructor knowledgable and compassionate) and had a total of 23 flights. I bought a Piper Cherokee in July of 2017 but it took me until November to get it to Prescott. So I continued to fly the C-162’s around a lot. I can’t say enough good things about Lance. He is really committed to providing a user friendly approach to aircraft rentals (a very intuitive online booking software product). He has surrounded himself with an excellent CFI support group. In addition well maintained aircraft in his fleet. I highly recommend Leighnor Aircraft.
Everyone at Leighnor were very welcoming and friendly and made my wife and I feel at home for a discovery flight to get a feel for what it is like to be on a small plane. Kian was a great instructor and helped us learn and offered his perspective and love of flying. Would highly recommend talking with them and trying the discovery flight if you’re interested in learning.
Ed is the man! I know I’ll never master anything in my life to the level Mr Kalabus has mastered avation! The airplanes are all very well maintained and kept very clean I highly recommend Leighnor Aircraft! And if you get the chance go on at least one flight with Mr Kalabus. I received my ppl with this school and I appreciate them very much!
