On the first instance, we had a lesson scheduled on a Saturday, but my child had a last-minute school activity come up on that day. Obviously school comes first, so I needed to reschedule. I called John two days in advance to reschedule the lesson. He raised his voice and told me that it costs him money to reschedule lessons (even though we prepaid the entire $400 for the lessons up front), and that he was going to begin charging a $100 cancellation fee. Because John was so offended by my need to reschedule, I declined to schedule another lesson at that time. My plan was to give it another shot over summer break when there would be less chance of something coming up that would cause an issue. I assumed he must be having a bad day or something.
Today I got a text from John saying that he had waited for us at the location where he meets student drivers. Y’all I am sure that we did not have a lesson scheduled. I know that because he made me feel very uncomfortable about needing to reschedule before, so I purposely didn’t schedule another lesson at that time. My child also had a doctor’s appointment today that has been scheduled for six months, so it is unlikely that I would have missed that on my calendar. I’m not saying I never make mistakes, we’re all human. But seriously, I didn’t want to reschedule the last time I talked to him, so I know I didn’t. I called John to try and explain that there had been a mistake. HE LITERALLY YELLED AT ME. I don’t mean he raised his voice, he YELLED. So much that I couldn’t get a word in. He said, and I quote, “I have never made a mistake in the eight years I have been doing this!” At that point it was almost funny. Who says that? I tried to end the conversation by saying that I could tell things were getting tense, but that made things much worse. He got even louder and yelled that I was trying to blame this on him. He would not stop yelling, so I just hung up.
