Wonderful school! This is the 2nd Connections Academy school we have attended, and as expected, the year is going well. I honestly think a lot of the reason that children struggle with this curriculum is they’re not receiving proper support from their learning coach. You cannot just put your child in front of the computer and walk away. Children need guidance, and help with understanding more challenging material. If you’re willing to put in extra time with your child, this is a great option for schooling. If you want to just have your student be taught everything by a teacher, then you should probably go with a more traditional program.
The only positive I have had so far are the teachers. They are all amazing and willing to help my children where they can. My issue is that my 8th grader has a significant learning disability which requires special education classes, shortened tests and an IEP. None of these requirements have been met by this school which has caused him to fall way behind the other students in his classes. When I pulled him out of public schooling, I figured this would be better for him because there would be less distractions and he would be able to concentrate better, which would mean more focus and better grades. I seem to have been wrong.
Switching to Lighthouse Connections Academy was the best educational decision we could have possibly made regarding our student. We are finishing our up our first year and couldn’t be happier. We were blessed to have an awesome teacher in Mrs.Tracey Clark, who helped our child with the transition. She has helped her to reach her best potential by supporting her love of learning and individuality. We are happy with the curriculum, ability to adjust our own daily study schedule and the support we have received. We definitely look forward to the upcoming year full of new adventures and knowledge.
