Only an inquiry was made regarding if 1:1 care was available, it was not a stipulation to her participation or attendance in this program. Denial of even a preliminary introduction on the basis of a simple inquiry is still unacceptable. To not even allow us to walk through the threshold is absurd. Additionally, The referral made in appeasement of the discrimination dealt during our call after the excuses made for exclusion of my child was not to another care facility or camp. Jenny made reference to the referral being a resource for a facility that provides ABA care and therapy, to which I replied that I was not interested in ABA therapy options. Nonetheless, I still reached out to the Imagine-a-way organization which is not a facility that provides care of any kind and only provides financial resources for families with children aged 2-7. My daughter is 10. As a parent-practitioner with a Masters degree in Applied Behavior Analysis I am well aware of therapy options availed to my daughter. In efforts to take care and consideration for her social emotional health, I attempted to seek peer play, interactions and experiences in a place that I perceived as a safe space

Feelings of rejection and discrimination fester from young where behavior like this is all too common and unfortunately becomes a familiar and unwanted feeling that is forced upon these children. The longing to be accepted as they are become much like a dream deferred. “It sags like a heavy load…” dragging them down in depression and despair. This is instead the nightmare they live every day, having to fight and claw for simple courtesies, acceptance, empathy and accommodation. All children with autism are not the same and have individual differences as well as difficulties. I only ask that you are more aware of how deep these infractions are felt and how they chip away at the hope and faith of a child who is being taught through this experience that god is love but love for her, has no place in his house. I implore you to seek [free] trainings and exposure for your staff to prevent future occurrences such as these.

I worked at Lionheart Children’s Academy At celebration church for 8 months as an infant teacher. At first I loved it, I loved working with the babies and getting to know all my coworkers. It seemed like a great place to work. But after a little bit they start to show their true colors. The directors are rude to the staff and pick favorites. One director came into the classroom and started yelling at us in front of the kids and parents walking by. It was humiliating for my co-teacher and I. Some of the teachers are rude the the kids and don’t treat them kind. Overall not a good place to work or take your kids to.
We had tried out many of the camps and child care centers in Georgetown/Round Rock area and cannot express how thankful our family was to have found Lionheart Academy! Our daughter immediately
felt welcomed, safe, and loved amongst all of the staff. She wakes up and looks forward to going to Trailblazers, and they keep the kids entertained with great STEAM focused curriculum throughout the day. Thank you Lionheart at Celebration Church for taking such great care of my little girl!
