Core classes that are a little harder each year. No electives. Horribly bad communication.
My child attended 5th and 6th grade. If you think this is going to be a STEM school think again. My kid has 10 times the amount of work in English than all classes combined. They beat a dead horse on a book called “Touching Spirit Bear” for 7 months out of the school year. These teachers don’t communicate with you. They don’t use Schoology or Google classroom. They use HAC that just tells you the assignments so far in each class and the grade. The only way you know what your child is supposed to be doing is if it is late or they received a zero. There are checklists that the teacher never fills out until the end of each quarter making them useless. If you want to see your kid get an award or be involved in classroom events there is a limited amount of people that can attend if you even get an invite at all. They tend to have a fall festival and another in the spring everyone can attend. There are no electives, only After school clubs that are $30-$50 each. Each club happens once a week and are different each semester. Some clubs like drone/robotics can cost $200 a semester with very limited spots and invite only. 6th-12th you are stuck with the same core teachers. Your kids will not get a variety. I want you to know what you are getting into, if I knew this I would have never let my child go here.
P.S. They said the 2023-24 year there would be electives. They lied to get me to stay. They are building the high school and have NO plans for electives. If you have an issue with a teacher and have a meeting with the dean of students about the teacher, the dean will take the teacher’s side no matter what. Even after the teacher breaks their promises to communicate better and proof of grading things wrong.
